I often get asked to make celebration cakes for friends, and a while ago I was asked to make a retirement cake for my friend’s Mum who was leaving her job of 30 odd years at a local medical practice. Knowing how much she loved Maltesers and chocolate cake, I decided that a Malteser & Chocolate Finger Celebration Cake would be the perfect bake.
My Maltesers Arctic Roll is my take on this weeks Great British Bake Off baking category for roulade, as it was Dessert Week tonight. A lot of roulades feature cream, but my family are not fans of cream but they do adore ice cream
Malteser Rocky Road includes Malteser chocolates in the recipe to make an even more delicious version of an already amazing no bake treat.
I adore rocky road, it has to be my favourite non bake tray bake to maker and eat. I also love Maltesers chocolates, so imagine combing the two in one great tasting treat? Make way for my delicious Malteser Rocky Road.
When I was a girl a popular dessert for my brother and I was a slice of arctic roll. It is a very simple pudding really, a vanilla swiss roll containing jam and vanilla ice cream, and yet it was quite a threat to have a slice! Nowadays artic roll is still available in the freezer aisle of supermarkets (i think it is made by Walls?), but compared to all of the other fancy frozen desserts and delectable ice creams on offer, the humble artic roll is probably not a pudding of choice or popularity with todays youngsters!
Whenever I hear that it is biscuit week on the Great British Bake Off, I always dread it because I am not very good at baking biscuits. Cookies I can make , but biscuits are not my strong point. So when I discovered that for week 2 of the show, for biscuit week, the themes were either biscotti, arlettes or a 3D biscuit box which had to contain more biscuits, I decided that biscotti would be my bake off choice.
