Chocolates play a big part of Christmas really, don’t they? I mean, every supermarket sells those big tins full of assorted wrapped chocolates for you to buy early, and keep hidden away until Christmas. Mind you more often than not I end up buying two because one normally gets eaten way before advent starts!!!
So yesterday we went and chose our Christmas trees – yes plural! We like to have a larger one in the lounge and a small one in the kitchen. I mean if you can’t be frivolous at this time of year, when can you be? Plus we like to choose trees with more ‘character’ and these tend to be much cheaper than the more ‘confident’ looking trees lol!
When I was pregnant with my first child, I had all of these notions of what I did and did not want for my first born. One that sticks out the most in my now patchy memory (lol!), is that I wanted him or her to have wooden toys once they were old enough to play with them. I was probably being rather snobby, but I did not like the idea of all those brightly coloured, plastic, noisy toys that would probably get annoying after a very short time. I figured that wooden toys would be made better, and would last for longer and be timeless.
With a little more than 2 weeks to go until we all find out if we have made it on to the ‘naughty’ or ‘nice’ lists, it is a good time to bake some Christmas inspired cakes.
So it is 49 days until Christmas !!!
Is that good or bad news for you? I think it is not too bad, and still seems like long enough. However I am well aware that before I know it it will be Christmas Eve and all of the presents will be under the tree or in stockings, and all that it left is to wait until the following day to hope that the recipients of my gifts will be pleased with them.
