Whenever I think of Florida I always conjure up images of hot sun, golden beaches , blue sea and of course Disney!! It is a place I have never visited but it always looks so amazing, and a definite trip of a lifetime for all little Disney princes and princesses.
FloridaTix is celebrating 10 years of sending families to Florida on holiday, and what better way to mark this anniversary than to have a birthday cake. The company challenged myself and 9 other bloggers to a bake off, and we were all sent a pack of baking goodies with which to make and decorate a cake inspired by the FloridaTix brand.
I have to be honest, my cake decorating skills are not the greatest but I do have imagination so as soon as I saw these items there was one Disney film which jumped out at me : Frozen. Once I committed to making a Frozen themed cake , I thought I would make some blue sugar glass to decorate it with. The first batch was too soft, but my second batch worked out really well, and although a little thick I was really pleased with it
I made up the maderia cake mix, which I have to say cooked really well, and once it was cooled I sliced in half and sandwiched back together with jam. Then I covered the cake with buttercream ready to be covered in the white royal icing.
Once the icing was on, I smashed the blue sugar glass into shards and covered the cake in them and added some blue candy melt tiles around the bottom of the cake.
It is more of an abstract Frozen cake but obviously if you had some figurines of the characters, these would no doubt improve this cake for any Frozen fan on their birthday.

I was sent some baking and cake decorating items in order to create this cane and post.
