I think you will agree an amazing array of pastry clad sweet and savoury pies and tarts.

It was another hard week to apppoint a Star Baker because the standard was so high again and I wish we could award more than one! After much deliberating Helen Hollywood and myself, Jenny Berry *ahem* are pleased to annouce that our 4th Star Baker is……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Karin from Cafe Bebe with her Gluten Free Mini Bluberry Pies ! We felt that considering that GF pastry is renowned for being hard to work with, Karin’s pies looked delectable and we loved her styling too.  Well done Karin – let me have your email address so I can send you your badge 🙂

Also we would like to say a huge well done to Helen for making her own puff pastry and all those elements that made up her amazing French Tomato Tart !!!

Well done to you all though – I would have loved to sample some of those savoury pies on a cold day with some buttery mash or chips and gravy , or the sweet ones with custard – yum!

Also a huuuuuge thank you to everyone for joining in x

Next weeks GBBO challenge is all about Traybakes, tuiles and biscuits! Good luck x

Seriously, some fantastic entries and the creativity shown, photo styling and flavours have been brilliant! It is making judging that much harder for us both!

GBBOwk2

However, after much debate Helen and I (apologies to the Hollywood for disturbing her while she was on holiday!) have selected a winner. We decided to go with a breadstick/grissini entry as we felt that these seemed more of a challenge to make and perfect for the linky. In the end it was between two bloggers and it was a close call but we have decided to go with

………… *cue dramatic pause in a Mel and Sue kind of way* ……………

Congratulations to Bluebird Sunshine with her basic breadsticks and crispbreads. The simplicity of the bake and the effort of making not just breadsticks but crispbreads aswell , with the pretty garnish just edged the vote in her direction! As the lady herself said

I was so excited to hear the SNAP when I self-judged that I could sit like a loon tonight with a glass of wine and a slab of cheese and devour the lot with a snap, slather, slap.

Chocolate, Coconut & Cherry Buns (GBBO #2)

Chocolate, Coconut & Cherry Buns (GBBO #2)

So it is week 2 of the Great British Bake Off which means it is the second week of our Great Bloggers Bake Off!!! I was genuinely over whelmed by the gorgeous cakes that were linked up last week and you all did so well. I think everyone challenged themselves and produced some truely outstanding cakes *pats everyone on the back*

Out first Star Baker was Helen from The Good Life Mum so congratulations to her and for the full round up please take a look at Helen Hollywood’s post.

Last night’s show was all about bread. They made breadsticks, english muffins and showstopping bread. Therefore the theme for this weeks linky is anything made using a bread dough – and yes you can use a bread machine is you wish as long as the recipe is your own and not out of a packet !!

I decided to have a go at making Chelsea Buns – a Paul Hollywood recipe taken from last year’s GBBO recipe book – but I decided to use my own filling of chocolate, coconut and cherry mmmmm!! I have NEVER made my own dough before and here is how I got on
