So another week and another round up, where is the time going? Week 7 saw Victorian week and there were some delicious entries – they all looked and sounded so good, and it is never a good idea to comment on recipes with an empty stomach that is for sure!
Thank you to Debbie for hosting this week and sharing such a yummy pie, the first of many to make my tummy rumble this last week! Thank you to everyone who entered and here are this weeks Star Bakers.
PIE
So many gorgeous homemade pies were entered, some with short crust, some with GF and DF pastry and a puff pastry one too. In the end though, I am going with the only veggie filled pie that was entered, and I think you will agree that this looks soooooo good, even without any meat. Well done to Angela for this epic meat free pie.
FRUIT CAKE
Like me, a few of you decided to make a fruit cake and two of you really want all out in your decoration. Alyssia did such a fantastic version of the Mary Berry tennis cake from the show and I feel bad making her a runner up, but she was literally *just* pipped to being Star Baker by this wonderful take on that cake by Shimelle , who made a Quidditch version, which I felt was very clever and unique (and a GF version at that).
CHARLOTTE RUSSE
I do love a charlotte russe, and had I more time this is a dessert I would like to try and make myself . I really loved seeing all the flavours you created for this showstopper, and Louise’s Pimms version is a dessert I would love to try! However, although all of the charlotte russe recipes linked up looked amazing, I am going with Beckie’s because she made all of the components including the sponge fingers herself, and I think it looks fantastic.

Gosh that’s impressive. I recipe tested some medieval recipes for a new book coming out and they were just delicious. You needed to give the recipes some time, granted but the flavours were so good! Elinor x
