Friday is such a great day of the week. It is, for most, the end of the working week and for all school aged children the end of school until Monday morning! Friday night tea time and evening is always a little bit of a special night in my house, because as it is the prequel to the weekend starting, I often let my boys have a little treat to celebrate this. Maybe some sweets after school, or a trip to the park at hometime or a tea of their choosing with a movie to follow, and being allowed to stay up a little later than usual.
I like to encourage Burton and Jenson to help me in the kitchen as much as possible, so that they learn some important life skills, and to understand that boys and girls, mummies and daddies can cook and should cook the food for their families.
Friday night tea time is usually the one meal each week that I let them have a say about, and it can be a meal that can be a little less loaded with healthy options, because we eat meals like that the rest of the week.
McCain have launched a new initiative called ‘Fries-day’ (#friesday) where they want to encourage us mums and dads to let our children not only choose what to eat for tea, but to help prepare it too. ‘Fries-day’ night is the perfect excuse to let kids have fries and serve them alongside their favourite foods, such as pizza, hot dogs, fish fingers, burgers or anything that they like to eat as a treat.
To celebrate ‘Fries-day’ in our house, the boys and I prepared burgers and McCain crispy french fries for tea something which we all enjoy eating.
The great thing about McCain fries is that they are so easy to cook straight from the freezer, making them very convenient for adding to meal times.
And they are so crispy and yummy and always go down well with my family.
Being Friday, or ‘Fries-day’, the boys also made some Movie Chocolate Bark to enjoy after tea while relaxing and watching the new Jungle Book movie with their Daddy and I. The perfect way to end the working, and school, week.
What could you and your family do to turn your Friday in to a ‘Fries-day’?

Looks like your boys love #friesday! It’s so nice to have an easy tea like this on a Friday, isn’t it? My two love The Jungle Book, too – movie nights are very popular here! x
