We are big fans of Cheerios in this house, so when I was offered the chance to review their new range of Oat Crisp cereals, which combine crispy oat flakes with Cheerios, how could I refuse?
Of course these two new Cheerios Oat Crisp cereals are lovely eaten the normal way with milk for breakfast, but they also make a lovely snack on their own taken straight from the packet. My two boys often eat regular Cheerios this way, and even take them to school as a snack option!
Another thing you can do with Cheerios Oat Crisp, is that you can use them in a spot of baking too.
Well, when I say baking, there isn’t any with this recipe as it is a fridge cake recipe so the only ‘cooking’ you need to do is to melt the chocolate and the peanut butter!
This is a very easy recipe and only uses a few ingredients, here is how I made them:
- 200g Cheerios Oat and Crisp Cereal
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 150ml golden syrup
- 200g milk chocolate
- Grease and line a brownie tin
- Place the peanut butter and golden syrup in a pan over a moderate heat, and melt, stirring occasionally.
- Once melted, add the cereal and mix well to combine
- Pour into the tin and press down
- Leave to cool for 10 minutes
- Melt the chocolate and pour over the Cheerios
- Leave to set - I cover mine with foil and place in the fridge for a couple of hours
- Then remove from the tin and cut into squares and keep in an airtight tin in the fridge.
This is a very moreish fridge cake, quick to make and even quicker to eat – it did not last long!
I was sent some Cheerios Oat Crisp for the purpose of a review.
