There is a new bear on the book shelves and he is funny, mischievous and purple and likes to play pranks on others! He is also a bear who shows his bare self and bottom (which my youngest found hilarious!) at the start of the story, so you know from there on in it is going to be a fun read.
The brilliant I Am Bear by Ben Bailey-Smith and Sav Akyüz is full of amusing and colourful illustrations and rhyming prose which is easy to read and memorise. Jenson , who is currently in reception class at school was able to read some of the book by himself and his older brother Burton read it very easily, so it is a fab book for young readers.
Here is Burton reading the book at our tea time picnic last night:
So last night we held a little I Am Bear tea time picnic. I had planned to have the picnic outdoors, but the weather has been so wet that I did not fancy us all getting wet bottoms while enjoying our picture book party tea! So I made the boys a little I am Bear inspired tea
In I am Bear, Bear likes eating squirrels (well pretending too at least) and doughnuts which he steals from policemen! Now my boys do not like doughnuts (I know! Crazy!), so I bought some party rings as they look a little like iced ring doughnuts instead.
I also bought bagels as they are doughnut like too, and we filled one with honey roasted squirrel turkey for Burton, because all bears love honey,
and one with jam for Jenson, after all doughnuts can also be jammy aswell as iced.
As bear is purple I served some purple food, so there was jelly
rice cakes
and grapes and blueberries (yes I know they are blue, but they pass for a deep purple colour – just!)
An I Am Bear picture book party fit for…well a bear really!
and two I Am Bear fans
As well as enjoying reading the book and seeing the illustrations on paper, you can enjoy watching the I Am Bear music video which really brings the purple bear book to life and is fun to sing along to!
I Am Bear is really entertaining, funny and a delight to own. It is perfect to read to your little ones or let your young readers enjoy reading it to you! Available to buy now from all good bookshops.
