The lovely Nickie from Typecast is posting a series of writing prompts this month in order to raise awareness for CLIC Sargent’s Yummy Mummy Week which is running from 10th-18th March 2012.
The prompt I am choosing is from Week 3 : Getting Together
and I am going to write about the last time I enjoyed a girls night out.
and I am going to write about the last time I enjoyed a girls night out.
Since I had Burton I don’t go out very often. I am ok with this because being an older mummy I have had lots and lots of nights out where I drank too much and did silly things and basically had a great and fun time. When I knew that I wanted to settle down and get pregnant, I was perfectly happy to give up nights out for nights in; swap bottles of wine for glasses of squash (breast feeding); going out clothes for staying in everyday wear which is prone to getting covered in sick, snot and goodness knows what else!
Basically I don’t feel I am missing out on NOT going out.
Basically I don’t feel I am missing out on NOT going out.
To be honest, I am glad not to have to be going out every week like I once did during my late teens and early 20’s, for one thing I don’t think I could hack that kind of partying anymore and secondly I would rather go out for a nice meal and a few glasses of wine now anyway. I would prefer to chat and be heard and be able to hear my friends, than stand in some bar with loud music that drowns out any other
sounds and be pushed and shoved by people trying to pass me!
Yes I probably do sound boring!
However, that being said whenever I do go out with my friends I get very excited and look forward to it because it is such a novelty! Since having Burton I have had 2 nights out where I really let my hair down (and probably only 2 other nights being sensible!). The first was in July 2010 a week before I fell pregnant with Jenson, when me and my 3 friends from school went out for a Mexican meal and a few alcoholic beverages!
always a giggle with my girls 🙂 |
My last (girlie) night out was actually only the other weekend the 4th February. Unfortunately one of my friends was unable to make it but myself and Elaine and Kimberly decided to carry on and go out as it had been 18 months since out last night out together!
We just went out for a lovely meal and shared a couple of bottles of wine but it was great because I got to dress up and have some wine and a lovely meal 🙂
in the fine company of my two best friends. We always have something to say to one another, we always have a laugh and we always look forward to our next night out which I hope will be sooner than another 18 months away!
having some ‘me’ time with my friends 🙂 |
A girl needs a girls night out occasionally just to remember what being a girl is all about, and it is lovely being Jenny for a change instead of mummy

Great post! I feel the same about going out. I do miss meals out with hubby but I don’t miss the partying, and I think I enjoy it more when I do get to go out and let my hair down, if that makes sense?!
Your photos are fab – looks like a great night with the girls 🙂
