I was recently sent some Cinnamon Grahams, and I was trying to think of a way to incorporate them into a recipe, other than just adding milk to them (although I think they taste nice just as they are, straight out of the box!). Seeing as though I had a bag of windfall apples, I thought I would make a traybake with apples, and what spice works with this fruit? Yes cinnamon, so I figured (and kept my fingers crossed) that cinnamon grahams would work in a cake with apple.
Did it work?
Yes ! and it was really nice and here is how I made my Apple & Cinnamon Grahams Traybake
- 125g self raising flour
- 150g unsalted butter
- 150g brown sugar (not essential as caster would be ok)
- 2 eggs
- 100g grated apple
- 25g Cinnamon Grahams + couple of handfuls for decoration
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 apple, peeled and thinly sliced
- pre heat the oven to 180o C / 160oC (fan)
- grease and line a rectuangular baking tray
- cream the butter and sugar together until pale and soft (about 5 minutes)
- Add the eggs and 1 tbsp of the flour and beat well until light and airy
- The fold in the remaining flour, the cinnamon, the grated apple and the cinnamon grahams
- Pour into the baking tin
- Smooth over and then top with the sliced apple
- Smash the remaining Cinnamon Grahams and then scatter over the apple
- Cook in the oven for approx 25 minutes until cooked all the way through
- allow to cool before cutting into 12 squares
This was actually really nice and it all went at my toddler playgroup, so I take that as a good thing! Would probably be even ice with some clotted cream!
I was sent some Nestle cereals for the purpose of taking part in their How To Make The Most Out Of Your Nestle Cereal blogger challenge. I decided to create my own recipe using Shredded Wheat. I have another recipe to follow soon using Golden Grahams.
The good thing about using cearal in a recipe like this is that it is getting children to enjoy the healthy goodness of the cereal but done in a fun way, that they may not notice! Nestle cereals has used its packaging to make breakfast choices easier for parents. When you see the green banner across the top of a cereal box on the shelf, you know you’re looking at a Nestlé Cereal which contains whole grain (along with at least six vitamins and minerals in all fortified Nestlé Cereals).
Therefore, giving your family a great start to their day.

that looks lovely..but do not mess with the cinnamon grahams – straight out of the box is definitely best! I don’t buy them as I would eat them all in one go!
