I like to think I am quite a good driver, and despite the fact that I have suffered a few bumps in my cars over the years, they were, of course, not my fault but that of the other cars or walls or hedges or that patch of black ice lol!! See, I am not called Mummy Mishaps for nothing, and even before I became a mummy I often had mishaps on and off the road!
I have been trying to think about who is the worst driver I know, and I have to be honest I can not pinpoint any one person. My OH, someone who has been a rally car driver, is a very competent driver but I struggle to relax in the passenger seat while he is at the wheel. He drives a bit like he is in a rally, in my opinion, (as he would dispute all of this!) and I am often found to be gripping on to the dashboard or door handle, and pressing my feet into the car floor where the brakes would be if I were sat in the driving seat!!! Of course my OH find this all infuriating and cannot comprehend my constant tutting and asking him to slow down!!! Maybe I am the worst passenger!!
There again, I know that when friends or my brother, who live in London, have been down to Devon to visit me they do not like me driving them around the twisty and winding roads which this county is famous for. I would like to state, again, that this is not down to my driving, but that city folk are not used to country road driving because it is all back to back cars or public transport for them!! Still when my brother did live here before he moved away, he drove his car around the roads here but being a new driver and not driving for long he rolled his car one night, driving late back from his job, while avoiding a collision with a squirrel if my memory serves me right!! Luckily he was ok but his car was not. I think my brother could have benefitted with the More Than Telematics Driving Style. This is a piece of kit which is attached to a car, and works out how safe the driver is driving. This data will then calculate an insurance which has been created especially for young people, to help them drive safe & save money.
I asked some fellow blogging friends who they feel is the worst driver they know and here is what they told me:
My ex-boyfriend’s sister. She regularly made me sick. One day she drove us to Newport to get his passport and I literally drove with the head out of the window because I was worried of eating backwards…
Carolin
I am definitely the worst driver I know although my best friend is a close second. We recently went to York Designer Outlet and really struggled to get parked – we had to swap places twice! I always look for a parking space where I can pull right through as I’m so bad at parking! 😉

I’m a terrible driver, although my best friend many years ago managed to drive between Cheltenham and Gloucester several times with only three wheels on without realising! This is a standard example of my driving…

I’m fine at driving but super crap at parking and especially reverse parking as I have no idea where my car ends. My friend lived in a Victorian cottage on a steep hill and whenever I visited she said I did ‘stunt parking’ as it was so out from the curb!
Michelle
My ex husband. I wouldn’t get in his car today if he offered me a lift. Drives way too fast, is way too selfish on the roads and takes far too many risks. Don’t worry, he drives in Italy!
Marianne
Not a person that is bad at driving but a whole village – my mum used to live out in the sticks and there is a crossroads that when it is dark the locals turn off their headlights and if they don’t see another set they know it is safe to go without stopping. Of course they all switch their lights off so how there has never been an accident is beyond me. Personally I used to stop (with my lights on) and wind down the window to listen out for cars just in case

Thank you ladies.
