So tonight saw the final of the Great British Bake Off – did your choice of Baker win? Mine did, as Nancy has been my favourite from the start so I feel very happy right now for her. Sadly, with the ending of the GBBO on the TV means the end of the Great Bloggers Bake Off for another year – what will I do with myself now?
As you know, tonights show is all about pushing the final contestants to their limits and climaxing with the all important show stopper to end all show stoppers – and what amazing bakes were showcased this evening! Tonights baking themes were:
Signature : Laminated Pastry
Techincal: 3 x 12 Different Bakes (minature victoria sponges, scones and tarte au citron)
Showstopper:The Mix of perfect sponge, caramel, choux pastry and petit four
As regulars will know, the great bloggers bake off is a bake along but let’s be honest not many of us will have the time, money or patience to recreate that final showstopper bake from the final show, so for this final bake along for 2014 (until Christmas maybe…..??), all I would like you to do is to bake something a bit special using a bake that has been featured in this years GBBO series, including one from tonights show if you so wish. Therefore, it could be a sponge cake, choux pastry, enriched dough, bread, patisserie, pastry, European bake – anything you like as long as it is a new bake on your blog, and made by you. It could even be cupcakes or a novelty cake (think Halloween or a birthday cake even) or even a pie. It is open to any blogger too – not just those who normally join in , anyone who can bake really and fancies some fun.
To encourage you to feel inspired to enter a bake, I have some very exciting news. The very lovely Lisa Faulkner has agreed to judge the final great bloggers bake off for me (*squeals*), so although you can enter any type of bake you like, make sure it looks good because Lisa will be selecting her top 3 who will win the following prizes:
*drumroll please*
1st prize for the best bake: (sponsored by Wayfair)
£100 worth of Great British Bake Off baking products, which includes:
Quiche Tin
Cake Lifter
Balloon Whisk
Baking Beans
Sandwich Tin
Measuring Cups
Sieve
Palette Knife
Mixing Bowl
Muffin Tin
2nd prize: (sponsored by Viners)
is £30 worth of bakeware from Viners, who will put together a package of some bakeware products for you.
3rd prize
will be a copy of the Great British Bake Off 2014 book
The bake off will open tonight as usual, but I am giving you longer to get your bakes on , as the linky and competition will close Thursday 23rd October, 2014 at 9am . It may take a few days for the winners to be revealed due to Lisa’s busy schedule , but be assured she will pick her favourite 3. Please add the Great Bloggers Badge to your post please and a link to my blog
**Finally, for all of the bloggers who have joined in with this years bake along I also have a give away for you. You are free to join in the final bake off by all means, but as a thank you for supporting the bake along, as I know how tricky this years bakes have been, please fill in the form below adding the link to a bake that you have submitted (so I know you have taken part) and you could be in with a chance of winning one of two prizes – either:
a baking goody box supplied by Baking Mad similar to the image below:
or some Stork and a stork tea towell
I hope this is all clear? Eeeeek!!! Please tweet me @JennyPaulin with any queries.
Good luck and I cannot wait to see all your bakes – I will be showcasing mine in a few days (not that I am entering this bake off finale, because I am excluded sadly!)
