We were recently sent a new game from Orchard Toys called Where Do I Live?, which was perfect timing for the wet days we had during half term last week.
As with all Orchard Toys items, the box is colourful and fun and appealing to children, and my two boys were no exception, and could not wait for the rain so we could stay in and play it.
The concept of Where Do I Live? is very easy, it is an animal lotto game which tests your child’s memory, while at the same time teaches your child about where certain animals live in the world. There are four different boards (there game is for 2-4 players) depicting 4 different habitats across the world: the ocean, the desert, the rainforest and the polar regions. The idea of the game is that you need to match the animals to their correct habitat, by finding them one at a time.
The other great thing with this game is that on the back of each board are the names of the animals that live there (the same ones you need to match on the other side), and some interesting facts about them and their habitat.
The boards are great for reading practice and enabled Jenson, who is in reception class at school, to attempt to read the names of the animals, and Burton, who is in year 2, to read the facts.
To get a better idea of how the game works we made a little video:
We were also sent an activity book called Things To Do, which again came in very handy last week while the boys were off school, and it was too wet to go outdoors. This was a lovely way to keep Jenson occupied while Burton played with his Lego, and did not want his younger brother spoiling his creations!
Both of these products are part of the new range of games from Orchard Toys available now to buy.
I was sent a copy of the game for the purpose of a review as an Orchard Toys official tester
