You cannot beat playing a game to keep children entertained, and it is a great way to get a family to interact with one another and have some fun. My two boys love playing board games and guessing games with their Daddy and I, and when the weather is wet outside (much like it has been this week!), it is the ideal way to keep everyone amused without resorting to screen time.
Can you Guess? is a game made by the brilliant Orchard Toys and we were recently sent it to review and as soon as my boys clapped eyes on it, they could not wait to try it out! At this point I would just like to say that I have been invited to become an Orchard Toys official tester, and I have happily accepted because having already owned and played a few of their games and puzzles over the years, I genuinely think they are a great British company whose products have not only been enjoyed by my boys but they have an educational angle which is such a big plus when playing games with young children.
Anyway all gushing aside, we have played Can You Guess? a few times now and as with all Orchard Toys games it is brightly coloured and easy enough to suss out, because, lets face it, they are aimed for children! The aim of the game is similar to charades except you are given illustrated cards to tell each player which animal, person to action to act out.
You spin a wheel to determine which card to pick up, and these are split into 4 categories:
sound only (megaphone)
no sound, just actions (clapperboard)
sound and actions (star)
you can choose any card (question mark)
There are also circular star tokens and these are what you win if you correctly guess what the player performing is describing.
We have had a lot of fun and giggles playing this game – we even got daddy to act out being a ballet dancer (although he would not stand up form his horizontal position on the sofa to do it properly – naughty daddy!)! This is perfect for Jenson my youngest who at 4 and just started school, cannot read yet, but this does not matter because the pictures on the cards are self explanatory. Priced at £11.75 I feel this is good value due to the quality of the pieces and the ease in which the game can be played and enjoyed. This would make a great gift for Christmas.
I made a little video montage of our experience of the game – enjoy!
I was sent a copy of the game for the purpose of a review as an Orchard Toys official tester

Ooh this looks so good. We love Orchard toys and we need some new ones. I might go have a nosey on their site.
