You may recall that last month I asked some fellow bloggers
If you could hop in a time machine, to see your future, how far would you go/what would you like to see?
You can read their answers here
I found it really interesting that being parents already, a lot of scenarios which they and I wanted to see was mostly family related: to see what our children looked like as adults and with a family of their own. However, what would our time travelling aspirations have been had we been asked the same question pre children, when we were just young adults about to move into our own homes for the first time?
IKEA have used the notion of time travel in their latest advertising campaign whereby world famous hypnotist, Justin Trance, hypnotize a young couple into
believing that they are in their future, and watch how they react to certain situations in a future life scenario.
The idea behind the campaign is
“The Time Travel Experiment is our way to start a
conversation about the everyday moments that more often
than people think, happens in the bedroom and bathroom,
which is why those rooms are this year’s focus for IKEA”,
Mattias Jöngard, Global Communication Manager,IKEA
When I think back lots of things which I may have taken for granted at the time, now seem important, did happen in my bedroom or bathroom. Burton’s first smile happened in my bedroom, the boys first baths took place in the bathroom, and so on. Little everyday, ordinary moments which happen daily are the ones which can hold the most significance.
Since it’s launch 4 weeks ago the video of the hypnotized couple has gone viral and has received a staggering 1 000 000 views! And I am sure that IKEA’s new video showing another couple being transported to their future through the power of hypnotized, will prove to be just as popular as I think there is a voyeur in us all! And , more importnatly, it shows a message which I think we can all relate to at some point in our lives.
Do you think that the the everyday moments which although may seem insignificant at the time, are infact important, occur in the bedroom and bathroom of your home?
