So the last day of the school year has happened and now we have 6 weeks exactly to enjoy the break from the daily school day routine and have some summer fun! As soon as we got home from school today, both boys stripped down to their pants (always their pants!) and grabbed their water pistols and cooled off which in this heat is very welcome! Even I got a soaking, the little monkeys!
School is most definately out for summer!
Although I am looking forward to the summer break because it can be more relaxing and less hectic due to no time constraints of a school run twice a day, I am aware that I do need to do some planning for the 6 weeks. It is just that if I do not have some ideas of what I can do with Burton and Jenson, the days could run away with one another and let’s face it 6 weeks will soon whizz by. Slower paced mornings means lazing around in pajamas longer and sometimes by the time we are dressed and ready to get going, it might be almost lunch time.
Therefore, this year I have come up with our Bucket & Spade List – an assortment of things that both Burton, Jenson and I have suggested we might like to do; a wish list if you like for the summer holidays. I worked out that there are 30 days to fill (6 x 5 days, I have not included the weekends because daddy is home then), and looking at the list below I think we could be doing one of our ideas every day , as we have come up with 26!
I do not think for one minute that we will complete all of our wishes, BUT we will have fun trying, and any that we do not do now, we can save for half term.
30 Days of Summer Bucket & Spade List
*Have a water fight (water balloons & pistols)
*Make a memory box
*Go on a bug hunt
*Pick our own strawberries
*Visit Windy Castle (not actually called that, just our nickname)
*Visit a Museum
*Go on a Gruffalo Trail at Haldon Forest
*Train Ride (maybe visit Aunty Kimkerly)
*Visit Monkey World (with Grandma and maybe Grandad)
*Visit the Eden Project (see Dinosaurs unleashed)
*Visit Coombmill
*Visit Torquay to see Aunty Rita
*Visit the beach to make sandcastles
*Bideford Park (meet Aunty Elaine, Meg and Erin)
*Cycle/walk to Fremington Quay
*Meet up with friends (this will cover more than one day)
*Visit the different National Trust properties in the area (free entry and they have their activity days)
*Fly A KIte
*Ten Pin Bowling
*Junk Modelling
*See a film at the cinema
*See the life boat being launched on its practise night
I think that is plenty to keep us going don’t you? Hopefully, I will be able to record all of the acivities we successfully complete with my camera, and then I intend to write a round up post at the end of the holidays to look back on a wonderful summer of fun! Also ensuring 6 weeks of ensuring that the boys are kept happy and busy, which will burn off some energy which will in turn, I hope, tire then out and help them sleep each night!!
Have you made a summer holidays wish list?

Ooh lots of fun things to do on that list. We have no list at all but I think I should make one.

That is a really good list. Definitely achievable I think. I want to visit Monkey World, gosh I bet Jenson would love it there!
We are going to make a list in a couple of weeks. Our first 3 weeks are full of plans already xx

yeahy! Going to ride the train to visit me! Also, I have the visitor cards for Eden, so you wouldnt have to pay for yourself, if you pretended to be me! It would be a bit cheaper for you – it is £25 per adult to get in. Some fabulous ideas there, will be lots of fun for you. Kxxx
