A Look Back At Our Summer Holidays Of Fun (Flashback Friday)

I am a bit late writing this post, but luckily with it being a Flashback Friday I can get away with it! At the start of the summer holidays (see, I told you this was a bit late!) I wrote a bucket-and spade- wish list of activities that the boys and I wanted to do during the 6 week break.  Overall we did not do too badly, as we managed 15 out of the 22 activities listed and a lot more beside!

I have to say that we managed a jam packed summer, and because the weather was so wonderful we were out and about almost every day. We did so many things, like whittling and building a huge den, climbed trees, made sandcastles, swam in the sea, made our own kites and flew them, saw a walking dinosaur, played at being a paleontologist and saw an actual (fossilised) dinosaur poo!! We hunted for a Gruffalo and found him, visted friends at Coombemill, went strawberry picking and made our own jam from them,  and found conkers . This was also the summer that Burton discovered LEGO, and he is still loving it and I also introduced the boys to Sooty and Sweep, after we went to see a live show and I bought each of them a Sweep hand puppet. We have had a wonderful time watching old episodes on You Tube with Matthew – they are still very funny and I love hearing the boys laughing along!

It really was a wonderful 6 weeks, and yes I will admit that there were times that the pair of them tried my patience, and they were little bu**ers BUT we really made a summer of fantastic memories. I am so pleased we did so much because the time flew by so fast and now that the normal day to day routine has returned, I can look back at this post and remember all the fun we had.

This post was brought to you as part of Flashback Friday mummy mishaps

  1. Sounds like you had a fun summer and it looks like the boys really enjoyed themselves. Six weeks is a long time for them to be off; I think they miss the routine of school. It’s nice to have them at home for awhile though even if it can get testing LOL x

  2. Wow, you were very busy! We had a great summer compared to the last few, actually it was Aaron’s first time to really appreciate a Cyprus summer. Saying that we didn’t do much except swim in our pool, we hardly went out at all but we were all together and I guess that’s the main thing. I’ve STILL got to do my summer flashback post so it will be even later than yours – in my defense it’s still hot, so that’s my excuse 😉

  3. Looks like it was a great summer! I’ve still got to blog about some of our activities too (just posted about our summer hols!), I’m still catching up after taking a blogging break! I’d forgotten about flashback friday too, will try to link up again sometime soon. The photos are brilliant by the way, your boys are growing! x

  4. A huge list of wonderful summer activities, I knew when you said you had this post that it would be packed with outdoor fun. thank you for sharing on Country Kids and I’m so pleased you got to capture it all to look back on too.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
