Since he was 9 months old, Burton has been able to work his way around an iPad. I totally blame his Daddy for this, because when he was a little over 7 months old Burton took an interest in Daddy’s iPhone and was shown how to slide the touch screen on button across the screen to access it. Maybe Daddy did not think Burton would master the art of getting into a locked phone, but he did and fast! Since that moment there has been no stopping him and it has always amazed me how fast he can pick up the iPad and play a new game and know very quickly what he needs to do to be able to play it, and succeed at it
Recently, I was asked if Burton would like to try a new app for the iPad – HEXBUG Havoc, and while I was not completely sure that I understood what it entailed he soon picked it up and started playing it from the moment I told him I had a new app for him to try! No need for him to read the how to play instructions (or have them read to him) – he just got stuck right in!
HEXBUG Havoc is a new app based on the popular toys of little robotic creatures that behave just like a real bug, which move as a result of sounds and movments being picked up by their antennae. As soon as you switch the little micro insects on, they jump to life and are able to move speedily along a flat surface and whenever it faces an obstacle in its way, and their clever mechanisms enable them to move in another direction to avoiud a collision. Just like a bug, they are also able to flip back over if they land on their back. They sound pretty cool don’t they?
Well, the new HEXBUG Havoc app is a gaming extentsion of these toy robotic bugs and is available now from the app store at no charge, and is aimed at children 4 years and above. It is available to download on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and it perfect for fans of the HEXBUG toys to be able to experience the concept on the screen and to allow them to play on the go, in the car or even at home on the sofa while the toys have a rest!
I will be honest, I only spent about 10 minutes trying to fathom my way around the tracks and not get myself lose a life! Whereas Burton, however, has played the game a few times now so it is only fitting that he shows you how the app works.
I love Burton’s review even though at only 4 he is maybe not as coherent as an older child would be, I love his enthusiasm to demonstrate how the game works and how he plays it!
If you think your your children might enjoy playing the HEXBUG Havoc app, then you might also enjoy checking out this review by an 8 year old who may explain it a bit better than Burton did, being older than him.
I was asked if my child would like to review the app for the purpose of a post. I was sent a toy set of the Hexbugs as a thank you for featuring this, which we are yet to play with but I am certain Burton and his Dad will as soon as they get the chance. I only allow my children to review products that I feel are suitable and relevant to them and their ages.
