Matchbox is a brand that I remember from my childhood as I recall my grandparents having a lot of cars from the era in which my Dad grew up, which my brother and I would be allowed to play with whenever we visited their house. This year sees the 60th anniversary of Matchbox and to celebrate this momentous occasion the toy car brand has launched a special edition range of 24 die-cast vehicles which harks back to the brand’s roots.
Each of the 24 vehicles comes in its own unique commemorative presentation box which has been designed in a retro style which again is reminiscent of the way the toys would have been sold probably when my Dad was a boy.
I was sent two vehicles which both Burton and his daddy were excited to take a look at, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Police (EVO 10) and the Urban Tow truck. As you would expect from Matchbox each die cast vehicle has been made with such attention to detail and they just look so good and really are mini versions of the real thing. At just £3.49 and suitable from age 3 and upwards, these 60th anniversary editon toy vehicles would make superb stocking fillers for Christmas and I think even my Dad would enjoy seeing one of these on Christmas Day owing to the nostalga these toys bring with them. In fact I already have my eye on the Aston Martin DBS Volante for my dad, the Vintage Tractor for my step dad and the Lamborghini Giardo Police Car for my OH.
Available from all good toy stockists these wonderful toy vehicles are sure to light up any car mad child (big or small, old or young!) on Christmas Day. See http://www.matchbox.com/Heroes/ for more details.
Disclaimer: I was sent two Matchbox 60th anniversary vehicles for the purpose of this review. all comments made are honest and my own.

What do you mean cute?!? 😀
Matchbox toy cars are meant to look cool and realistic NOT cute… every boy knows this. 😀
The Mitsubishi looks amazing!
My kid likes Hot Wheels more though.. probably because they’re more flashy while I just adore Matchbox because of the realism. Wrote an article about various die cast toy cars called Matchbox vs Hot Wheels vs Majorette Toy Cars. Check it out and please share your opinion.
