When I found out I was pregnant for the second time, Burton had just celebrated his first birthday. I was well aware that having another baby with a young toddler in tow was going to be hard work – tiring and busy and challenging. And for the most part this has proved to be true!
However, I also hoped that by having a small age gap my children would grow up not only close in age but close in love and friendship. Also they would be playmates for each other and would play together well as they would have similar interests being closer in age.
Jenson in particular wants to do all the things that Burton does and copies him a lot. It makes me smile when Jenson makes a certain face or plays with a toy in a certain way – I know who has influenced that! Having an older sibling has made Jenson laid back when it comes to sharing and whenever he and I attend a play group or meet with a friend who has a son the same age, he is happy to share and doesn’t flinch if another child takes something off him. He just smiles and looks for something else or offers the toy to his peer!
For the most part my two boys get along so well and it is clear that they love each other very much. It makes my heart swell with motherly pride when I see the two people I love the most in this world play, laugh and get along so well. Yes of course they argue and push and hit each other and make each other cry, they are siblings and children and they always will have their ups and downs.
However, it is moments like the ones captured below that make me pleased that I was pregnant again by the time Burton ended the first year of his little life.
My beautiful boys.
Double trouble.

This is such a lovely post Jenny. It’s so lovely seeing how close your two gorgeous boys are.
I’m just obsessed with watching my two together and seeing their relationship. I never expected them to be so close this soon, but it’s just amazing to see. xx

What a lovely post and gorgeous pictures of two brothers and best of friends – I hope my two girls will have a similarly close friendship. I was nervous about having two with only a 23 month age gap, but now I see them together and I’m so pleased it worked out this way 🙂 xx
