Last Saturday was a bright and gloriously sunny day with blue sky reminiscent of better and warmer days ahead (hopefully) I decided to take the boys to Westward Ho! as we don’t go to the beach as often as we should considering how close we live to it.
As we prepared to leave the warm car, I explained to Burton that we didn’t have a spare change of clothes (*alert* mummy fail here) so to take care and not go wading into puddles or rock pools too far, in case he fell over or the water is deeper than his wellies.
As we walked over the board walk surrounded by the varying sizes of pebbles , the freezing sea breeze and February air almost took our breath away!! Proper cold!
Still, my boys don’t care about about such things as freezing cold temperatures oh no! Armed with a bucket and spade each off they went digging up the wet sand, finding shells and pebbles and of course splashing in the rock pools. We noticed how blue the sky was, how fluffy the clouds looked in the distance and how the sun’s rays reflect in the beachy pools like diamonds sparkling back at us. And, inevitably, how cold it is when you fall into a rock pool when you wade in too deep despite the warning Mummy gave you earlier! Not just once but three consecutive times!! *sighs*.

This then signalled our hasty return to the car, to turn the heater up full and head home for a warm shower and a warm home cooked dinner.
But it was such fun while it lasted, and they had a great time even though their little hands were so cold and their cheeks so rosy.
