After a week of being spoilt with such gorgeous weather as we had last week, this week has been in comparison mostly a complete wash out! It has been wet and I haven’t been able to get out much with the boys as a result. With Daddy being at home today I had access to the car (yay!) so I wanted to make sure that the boys and I enjoyed a day of getting out and about.
And we did!!
Firstly, we went strawberry picking to a farm which is only a couple of miles outside of Barnstaple. Things have changed since I went picking your own strawberries with my nan when I was a child, as back then it was an open field. Today, we entered a polytunnel to collect our fruity bounty, and had the whole one to ourselves – well we were there at 9.30am! Burton felt very important because the woman in the shop gave him the basket and told him he could hold it as he was in charge. Well if I heard it once, I heard him say about 10 times how he was in charge of me!!
I can honestly say that the strawberries we picked were the juiciest most delicous and sweet strawberries I have had in a LONG time.
Then at lunch time we headed over to a Gnome Reserve . Now I have lived in this part of the country since I was 12 and I have never visited this place….until today! It was actually a lot of fun and all of the gnomes are displayed inside a wood and there are a LOT of them!! All visitors to the gnome reserve have to wear gnome hats too!!!
I was not asked to mention the Gnome Reserve, it is just so you know that it is real!!

Snap! Must be the week of dodge the showers and a spot of Pick you own! Poly tunnels look like the perfect answer for a wet afternoon! Those little Gnomes remind me of The Smurfs! Aww what you little gnomes you have and I have to say, your funny little head suits you rather well. Germans are addicted by gnomes btw, so what looks like a gnome colony here would be your average front garden in Germany 😉
