  1. When my daughter was nine months and learning to walk, she fell into a wall unit, even though we right there and she cracked open her head requiring a hospital visit for stitches. At the hospital, in no time at all, we had a Child Life Worker questioning us, and not believing us. When the doctor went to put a needle into my daughters head, just above her eye, well she freaked. Dad was holding her flailing arms, but I couldn’t hold her head still because I was crying. The Child Life Worker held her head but did such a poor job the doctor yelled at her to do it properly or get out! Perfect! She didn’t ask us any more questions. Accidents happen in seconds with children, don’t beat yourself up about it.

  2. Oh lovely, glad he’s ok and sorted now. Poor boy, he really was struggling wasn’t he? And poor Burton, who was only trying to help him in, I saw it as well. You are a good mum, they are both active boys and these things happen. Even if you had been questioned (and I’m glad you weren’t) as I said at the time, you’d rather them be over cautious than under cautious because with some families it is more than just an accident.

It was fab there, and we will definitely meet up again. But when it’s not raining, and wit healthy children!

(Oh and you got my blog name the wrong way around, now go to bed)

  3. Jenny! You are NOT a bad mother and should not feel ashamed. These things happen. Babies are just so fragile. Charles has just started to pull Harry around but its because he doesn’t understand that Harry is so fragile and is still a baby.
I’ve lost count of the amount of times Charles has pushed Harry over, resulting in Harry smacking his head on our wooden floor. It really is a matter of time until we have to go to a&e I’m sure.

You can’t keep your eyes on them 24/7 and as you said, Burton didn’t mean to hurt him.
Hugs to you and your precious boys xxx

Aww poor wee Burton, he was just doing what he through best for his little brother. It is so hard, I know with two boys how rough they can be and sometimes these things happen. I can fully understand why you’d be in a panic about social services i’d have been the same. Glad it all turned out ok in the end. xx

  5. oh poor Jenson and poor you. Honestly I have had many trips to A and E because Milo is totally accident prone. Really don’t worry these things happen, and children heal really quickly.

  6. Oh sweetheart you are not a failure. These things do happen, and perhaps because it had already happened once that’s why it did it again so soon. I think we would all feel the same way though, I know I would. I sometimes look at JW’s legs covered in bruises and think I’ve no idea how he got all those, what if he had an accident and we had to go to hospital, would someone think I’ve hurt him? But the truth is that kids get bumps and bruises everyday because they have no fear of being hurt and they are exploring constantly. You couldn’t have stopped it from happening so please don’t feel bad. And a big kiss to your boys! xx

thanks for your comment Catherine . it is hard because you hear on the news how social services are so quick to place blame sometimes. i mean its good that checks are done but sometimes i think they target the wrong people!! your daughters injury sounds nasty though, bless her. xx

  11. We all have moments like this.  Henry’s legs were constantly bruised all the time when he was 3 & I worried about that.   Obviously Burton can’t help being a bit rough at times being so young still.  I bet hospitals see repeated examples all the time.  Glad everything ok in the end.  xxx

  12. Ahhh I hope you are ok now, it must be really hard with two little ones and things happen in a split second! Glad Jenson is ok, I think some babies must just be susceptible to this kind of thing. Hopefully that’ll be your last trip xx

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
