Happy New Year !!!
I received some lovely new cake creating gifts for Christmas
and have had some fun using these gorgeous items to create some new cake creations.
So with this in mind, this months I Love Cake theme is
NEW
It could be a new gadget you had that has inspired a recipe; a new cookbook (I had the Hummingbird Bakery one mmmmm!), a new healthy regime that means you need to make adjustments to your cake ingredients or just a recipe you have always fancied trying but haven’t done so yet.
New Year, New You, New Cake
*linky is at the bottom of this post*
Here is my NEW cake recipe using both of my new kitchen gadgets and trying out cake pops for the first time – a new cake adventure for me
you will need:
a cake pop maker (see above but other brands are available)
125g butter
125g sugar
2 eggs
100g self raising flour
25g cocoa powder
2 tbsp milk
Decoration:
some pop sticks
cake decorations
good quality chocolate for melting (i used white and milk)
Methodar
cream the butter and sugar until pale and creamy
add the eggs, flour, cocoa powder and milk and mix together to make a creamy, smooth chocolately mixture
Heat up cake pop machine (takes minutes) and grease each hole with a little olive oil
add a heaped tsp of cake mix to each hole
close lid and cook for 4 minutes (you will need a timer for this)
lift up lid after 4 minutes and allow cake ‘balls’ to cool for about a minute
remove carefully (they are hot) and place onto cooling wire rack
melt some chocolate as you would normally (i place it in a bowl in microwave and heat at 30 sec intervals)
get your cake pop sticks and dip one end into the melted chocolate and then insert into centre of your cake ‘ball’
once all cak pops have their sticks inserted, allow to cool completely
Decorating
anything goes really. I rolled each cake pop into some melted chocolate and then rolled in a mixture of popping candy, mini marshmallows and chocolate shapes
then chill in the fridge for about an hour until the chocolate is set
its a really fun way of making little cake mouthfuls!
even my OH who never helps me in the kitchen enjoyed helping and has even decorated an entire batch of cake pops himself (and they looked great but we ate them all before I had a chance to photograph them!)
Yum Yum!!
