My boys, like most children, adore playing with Lego and we have boxes of the stuff! I am often finding bricks or little characters lying around the house, narrowly missing being hoovered up by the vacuum cleaner! I love how lego just sparks such imagination and captive play, because you can build anything as long as you have ideas to explore.
Before Lego, both my boys started their brick building journey with Lego Duplo because being bigger in size these bricks and little fun characters are much easier for little hands to get to gips with. Watching Burton and Jenson build trains, house and cars with Duplo and make noises and interact with each other through play always made me smile at how even from such a young age, their little imagination were at work; shaping their learning and playtime. In fact both boys still play with their Duplo from time to time now (as I have never had the heart to throw it away because it holds such lovely memories), and even I have sat down on the floor and helped to build something, which only goes to prove that Duplo and Lego really do appeal to kids of all ages
In addition to the Duplo play sets, those clever people at lego have recently launched a brilliant new set of learning tools to encourage and develop little ones’ fascination with Duplo. Now rather than just playing with the Duplo toys you can now download free play and learn Lego Duplo apps to assist your pre school aged children with problem solving, and to encourage their dexterity skills at the same time.
Learning through play is so important for children, and Lego Duplo can really play a big part in this as this video demonstrates:

We love Duplo and have hours and hours of fun with it. We are massive fans of the ice cream set which is fab we have had so much use out of it.
