Random Acts of Kindness with Tesco Flowers / Ad

Do you love to receive a bouquet of flowers? Maybe you prefer to buy your own flowers along with your weekly shop to brighten up your home? Perhaps you like to pick some from your garden that you have grown yourself? Whatever your reason is, I believe that a bunch of flowers really can cheer someone up and put a smile the face of someone you love (and in return, yours) and this is why they make such a thoughtful and wonderful gift.

Tesco Flowers have asked me to nominate a person who I would like to send flowers to from their on line floral delivery service.  Well, I have to say that this was an easy decision because there is only one person who I would love to choose and that is my lovely Mum.

Aswell as sending these flowers to her (as per the photo above) which contain her favourite flowers, freesias, as a way of showing her how much she means to me and how much I love her, I also want to say a thank you.

I have to admit that since I have become a Mum myself, my respect for my own Mum has increased about a hundred fold! Seriously, knowing now how exhausting and relentless being a parent is, and how much hard work it is, I really admire my Mum so much more than I did before I had my children. Don’t get me wrong, being a Mum is the best thing and I love it, but it is also very stressful and challenging, and I honestly did not understand what being a parent was until I actually became one. Knowing how young my Mum was when she had me (just 18), going into a new marriage and being a new Mum straight from her parental home, just seems so amazing that she got on and did what she had to do. I find it hard being a Mum to Burton and Jenson, and I was almost twice her age when I gave birth to my first born! While I feel that I am probably more tired than she was then due to my age now, I really do not know if I could have coped at 18. I appreciate that girls younger than that have babies, of course, but back then that was still very young to start a family.

I also want to thank her for raising me to have good values, good manners and respect for people- things I want to install in my own children as I think these are important things to uphold and possess.I may have moaned about the things I was reprimanded for when I was growing up, but I realise now that they were for my own good and they have made me a better person as a result. I only hope Burton and Jenson will feel the same when they look back on their childhoods when they are adults and parents themselves. It is only then that they will understand, as I do now as their Mummy, how hard being a parent is and how hard it is raising your children to be respectful, well behaved and to have good moral fibre.

So thank you Mum for being you and for making me, me. Thank you for being there when I needed you, for all the help and support you have shown and given me and for your patience, understanding and wise words over the years. Thank you also for being a wonderful Grandma.

I am forever grateful to have you as my Mum. And I always will be xxx.

This post was written in collaboration with Tesco Flowers, but all words are my own.
