Project 366, 2016. Week 24

week 25

This year really is speeding past isn’t it? I cannot beige that we go on holiday in less than 2 weeks, and Burton will be 7 in a month and then a 2 weeks later the summer holidays will be here!

This week the boys have been given new reward charts in (another!) attempt to get their behaviour under control, and to reward good efforts and behaviour rather than just punish them for when they misbehave or do naughty things! So for every tick they get (like cleaning teeth, getting dressed, eating meals nicely without moaning etc..so potential to earn lots of ticks and time!) equals 1 minute iPad play at the weekend. They do not get iPad time usually, so this is being used in the hopes they will want to earn time because it is such a treat. Reward charts have never worked for long in our house, but we will see what happens!

Here is what we got up to this week:

Sunday – on our return from a walk we told the time using a dandelion clock

Monday – more after school zip wire fun in the garden

Tuesday – tennis club

Wednesday – Aikido time

Thursday – Burton made me cup of tea this morning (he was creeping as I banned all ticks yesterday for a day, due to a bad bedtime last night!), all by himself which is a little worrying, but I have shown him what to do a few times before, and to only fill the kettle up to the 1 cup mark.

Friday – after school at the park and by the time we got there it was empty again

Saturday – we went to a surprise 40th birthday BBQ this afternoon, and the boys enjoyed playing with some toys that weren’t theirs!

PS. they also managed to earn 60 minutes iPad time!

  1. We have reward charts going at the moment too for potty training and it seems to be working. Looks like a very active week for you all and well done to the boys for their ipad time

  2. We loved the reward charts here but it came with lots of bribes too and plenty of sweeties so maybe it wasn’t the best way 😀 I cannot believe Burton will be 7, how on earth has that happened! My niece will be 7 this week and I just can’t believe how time has flown by.

60 minutes iPad time is impressive! I long for the days when my kids hardly spent any time on screens! Reward charts never worked for long round here either.
Love the aikido pic and well done to him for making you a cup of tea – it looks like he’s done a very good job!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
