I really like cooking and having friends and family over for a meal. To be honest though, since having children, I do not host dinner parties anymore, preferring now to have family round for a Sunday roast instead. I remember my Mum having dinner parties when I was a child, and I will never forget the one time she made a homemade Baked Alaska – I though that was the bees knees of sophistication lol (well this would have been the late 1970’s / early 1980’s!).
That is probably why I used to love watching Come Dine With Me (I say ‘used to’ , as I have no idea if it is still being shown as CBeebies is all I see late afternoon on our TV!). Watching the hosts prepare their ‘winning’ menu, setting their dining tables to accommodate their dinner guests with fancy place settings, flowers and wine glasses, and then see their mishaps in the kitchen!! I did find it all very entertaining, and I always thought it would be a fun show to take part in.
Except I could never make my mind up as to which 3 meals I would make my guests! Seriously, I spent a LOT of time mulling this over, and I have to say I don’t think I ever made my mind up! However, for the purpose of this post, I had a rethink and I think my menu would be:
Stuffed, roasted peppers filled with mushroom risotto
Lasagne served with salad and garlic bread
Fererro Rocher Cheesecake
Quickly moving on before I change my mind!!!
Soooooooo, what would you make?
I asked some fellow bloggers what they would make if they were on Come Dine With Me:
Prawns on toast. Pasta with prawns and mushrooms and then choc fondant with melted mars bars and fruit to dip. I’m a classy bird!
Emma
Panko fried goats cheese salad with pine nuts and pomegranate for start, Chorizo and seafood paella as a main course followed by maple and pecan tart with clotted cream ice cream
Laura
Cheese and bacon potato skins, Gammon steak served with garden peas and chunky chips followed by an apple, sultana and cinnamon crumble with lashings of custard

As I have been asked twice to go on and turned it down, I have thought about it plenty of times! To arrive there would be some nibbles of sundried tomato palmiers and mini cupcakes. For starters Smoked salmon and lemon risotto with watercress and poached egg. Beef and mushroom straganoff with herb pasta. Cheese cake in a glass, followed by fancy coffee and peti fours.

I would let my husband cook…… Otherwise – squeaky cheese salad, goulash and crumble. Boring but safe and I like making them all

Mmmmm all this food is making me hungry now!
What would be on your menu?

All sounds amazing. I am not sure. I remember my mum making fondue back in the 80’s I used to love that x
