Decision Making

Are you any good at making decisions?

I am not.

In fact I would go as far to say I am completely rubbish at decision making. I am one of those people who will say Oh I don’t mind,  or you say , or I am easy !  I guess being someone who has never been good at asserting themselves, I do not want to make the ‘wrong’ decision because of the repercussions it could cause!!!

When I was younger I would play games like ‘rock, paper, scissors ‘ and ‘eenie meenie miney mo’ to help me to make my mind up, but these methods are not really the actions that a grown woman should use!! I can see where Burton gets his lack of decision making from! I am forever getting frustrated with him when he cannot choose which magazine to have, or which clothes to wear!!! Poor boy he must take after me!

Some people prefer to explore how best to make decisions with outside help, like The Circle, for example, and speak to someone who can offer advice. This enables them to learn about decision making from another perspective, that they themsleves may never have considered before.

Seeing as though I am useless at making decisions, I asked some blogger friends how they go about making them, to see if I can pick up some tips, and here is what they revealed:

Toss a coin, gut instinct

Lists, I need to see things so will write pros. And cons.
Emma

Talk to others to try to get a balanced idea of things

If it’s a difficult decision I leave it to someone else

I like to take time to decide the important things. I usually find that the decision kind of makes itself when I take some time and think about things but if that doesn’t happen, I write a list to help me decide the pros and cons.

If it’s a difficult decision, go away from it and come back to it with a clearer mind. If the decision has to be taken there and then go with your gut instinct. I’m good with decisions but terrible with choice, present me a menu and I could be there for hours!
Mari

I often search online for people who’ve had similar decisions to make, and take inspiration from the decisions they’ve made, especially if they’ve given an end result. It helps me settle my own thought processes.
Helen

I like the writing a list idea – I must remember that one next time! Thank you ladies.
