Singing For Your Brand

Have you ever wondered how you could sell yourself? I know people are often asked that if a film were made about their lives, who they would like to have portray them. I also know that another common question people can be asked, is what song best sums up their life. Maybe you, have been asked both these questions and are now reflecting upon your answers, or if this is the first time you have considered both you are sat there thinking of your answers

As a blogger, I am always unintentionally ‘selling’ my blog to my readers be they other Mum’s, bloggers, friends , family or potential PR and review opportunities (or whoever comes across my little part of the internet, every day). Therefore, I do try to post quality content and good photos, because I want people to come back and I want them to enjoy what they see and read. So in a way my blog is like a brand and I need to keep it fresh, appealing and interesting to all who read it.

However, how far would I go to really advertise my blog, to make it stand out and show the world what it has to offer?

I recently heard about a CEO who in order to promote his companies product and brand, Oatly milk drink, a milk made entirely from oats, has written a song and then performed it on camera for all the world to see and hear. He did this to explain what Oatly is all about; why it is so amazing and what makes it stand out.

This got me thinking, what song would I pick to best sum up what Mummy Mishaps is?
After much deliberating, I think for my blog it would be Katy Perry and ‘Roar’ because for one thing my boys love it and we always turn it up loud in the car and sing along, and this blog is mostly written about and for them (when the content is not cake related!). Also because I love the message behind the song. Fighting for what you believe in, staying strong and not giving up even when you wonder if you are good enough. I like the part where she sings : Now Iā€™m floating like a butterfly, Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes. I went from zero, to my own hero

Then, I wondered what song my fellow blogging friends would choose which best described them and their blog. So, I decided to ask them and here are their answers:

Would “U Can’t Touch This” be inappropriate…?
Cass

It’s My Life by Bon Jovi
Carolin

Pricetag by Jesse J
Lizzie

Fat bottomed girls by Queen pretty much sums me up
Tanya

Happy by Pharell
Michelle

I did it my way – Frank Sinatra Because I seem to have taken a VERY long route and keep making wrong turns too!
Marianne

All These Things That I’ve Done – The Killers
Sonya

I want to breakfree by Queen – not because I wander about in short skirts vacuuming, but because the blog allowed me to be free of the 9 to 5 grind-y thing that stopped me seeing my kids!
Helen

Our House, Madness
Penny

Err I suppose it has to be Wish You Were Here by Incubus, given I nicked my blog’s name from that song.
Steph

For me, probably New Soul by Yael Naim. My tagline ‘American writer making a life in the UK’ is trying to say the same thing, but not as prettily: living in this world making mistakes, learning from them, loving the place where I live
Michelle

Buddy Holly by Wheezer because “I don’t care what they say about us anyway, I don’t care about that!
Stacey

I am what I am by Gloria Gaynor because I have accepted that I can only do what I can do and I don’t do a lot of the things I supposedly ‘should’ be doing re blogging!
Anya

The Passenger – Iggy Pop!
Emma

I love all these answers – such a diverse mix of songs! Thank you ladies šŸ™‚

Oatly’s CEO, Toni Petersson sang in an oat field, about a company he is passionate about

What song would you sing passionately about in order to sell yourself and/or your blog?
