As any mother knows only too well, day-to-day life is full of little niggles that make the job of being a mummy that little bit more challenging. Don’t get me wrong, being a mother is the best job in the world but it’s certainly not a niggle-free existence.
Of course, they do say that a niggle shared is a niggle halved – so here goes…
One of my number one niggles is kid comparisons. By this I mean those mums that will only talk to you to tell you about what their child can do and ask you whether your child can do the same. We’re all proud of our kids – it’s our right as a parent. And yes, we should be proud of their achievements and share them with others but it’s important that those we share them with are interested. Politeness will only stretch so far and there is a big difference between being proud of your kid and bragging about each small achievement.
Another niggle I have is having to dress up for the school run because there’s always those mothers that look perfectly dressed and perfectly made up at 9 o’clock in the morning. Whether it’s witchcraft or pure dumb luck doesn’t matter, I just wish they’d give the rest of us a fighting chance.
But perhaps my biggest niggle of all time is a bra. It’s impossible to find one that fits perfectly, they’re uncomfortable and I’m fed up of being stabbed in the ribs by underwire. Thankfully, there’s a relatively simple fix to this niggle – buy a better bra. And by a better bra I mean the Magic Wire bra from Triumph. It gives all the support of a wired bra with the feel and comfort of none and has solved my bra niggle for good. With a special silicone and a built in mesh stabiliser, this bra supports and moves with your body so that it feels comfortable and looks great!
As well as the Magic Wire bra, Triumph are also running a nigglefix campaign to help find fixes to other common niggles – well, they’ve fixed the bra issue so quickly they might as well see what else they can do! If you visit their Facebook page or tweet your niggles using #nigglefix then you may be able to get a quick and easy solution to a long-term problem.
The Huffington Post has also created a “hub” of niggles – some of which have been composed by comedians – so you can compare your little complaints against those of the rich and famous.
The overall aim is to put as many heads together as possible to find solutions to life’s little niggles … and with so many of them out there, it’s about time too!
