Autumn Leaves, A Balance Bike, The Playground & Tree Climbing

We have been so lucky so far this autumn, asides from a couple of very cold days which prompted me to go out and buy a hat and some gloves, and a few wet ones which gave me an excuse to catch up on some housework, it has been so mild here. While Burton is at school, Jenson and I often go out mostly to the nearby park to be honest, just because it is so easy to get too, parking is free and there is so much to see and do if you put your mind to it.

Jenson is getting so good on his balance bike now – as good as Burton was at the same age I would say. And I love it when he says to me after dropping Burton off in the mornings,

Mummy, I don’t want to go home. Can we go somewhere else?

What is a mummy to do? Why go to the park of course! I always have the scooter, bike and buggy in the boot so I am always prepared. It has been lovely watching him riding through the carpet of brown and yellow leaves and seeing him smile, giggle and balance away. jleavescc3 CollageWe always stop off at the playground too so he can cycle around it a few times, before ditching his bike in favour of the various rides and sources of amusement within it.jleavescc4 Collagejleavescc2 CollagejleavesccCollageI often park my car in the grounds of the park too so we can walk into town which is just a short journey. Often on the way back I am asked again if we can pop to the playground, and if we see a pile of leaves it is hard to resist their lure!jleavescc1CollageSometimes it takes a while to walk back to the car after I collect Burton from school, either because we go to the nearby playground with some of his school friends and thier siblings, or because of the tree which is just to tempting sometimes to pass by without tryign to climb it and swing off its branches! And for the last couple of weeks leaf throwing outside the school gates has become a daily traditon too, as so many leaves collate by ther fence.jleavescc5Collage It just goes to show that you do not need to go very far or go too out of your way to have fun and enjoy what nature has to offer us. I LOVE it.

  1. It’s like I said earlier on Instagram, you find outdoor fun and play in any situation! Love it! I love seeing how grown-up Jenson is becoming, such a little man now, not a toddler anymore.

  2. What a wonderful post Jenny. Jenson looks like he’s mastered using his balance bike, that’s just brilliant. There’s nothing better than being outdoors, getting a bit of fresh air and kicking some leaves around. Love it!

  3. I love the everyday fun of this post. I’ve said it before but you are giving your boys such a wonderful childhood with so much free time to be boys and enjoy the simple pleasures of the outdoors. I’m sure fresh air fun is food for the brain, mine always love half an hour outdoors after school what ever the weather, I think it helps them process what they have been learning that day. Thank you for linking up with me on Country Kids.
