New From Ragu – Mama’s Sauces (Review)

I enjoy cooking (and baking!) and I make the majority of meals for my family from scratch. However, sometimes when you are late home or you havent had chance to go shopping, or those times when your children are screaming at you that they are “really hungry, mummy!”, you need something from the cupboard which you can get the table in a matter of minutes.

Ragu Mama’s is a new range from Ragu, the makers of pasta sauce from a jar, which contains meat in the pasta sauce.

I have to be honest, I am always a little dubious of products that contain meat and don’t cost much money, but when I saw the ingredients and content of meat I was pleasantly surprised. The Mama’s Meatball, for example, contains meatballs made from 60% beef which I thought was quite reasonable really.

To prepare is very simple, simply cook your pasta of choice for the recommened cooking time, drain add back to your pan and pour over your sauce and reheat for a couple of minutes and that is it, your meal is ready to eat.

I served mine with some garlic bread and topped each plate with grated cheese. It did go around the four of us, two adults and two small people, because I cooked extra pasta as the meatballs do not go far. However, it was a tasty sauce, quite herby and tangy and the meatballs were nice.

The verdict from my boys and their daddy – well they ate everything on their plate which means it must have tasted nice as I have two fussy boys!

I think for a cupboard standby, these sauces are a handy thing to have because a meal can be served in about 10 minutes. They would be ideal for camping too!

I was sent a hamper full of goodies for the purpose of this post. All comments made about the products are my own and are honest.

  1. When I was in my teens we would use Ragu sauces a lot, and I did when I left home hut my husband got bored of them.
These flavours sound great. I’m definitely going to try them xx
