Fisher Price has recently re-launched its Little People playsets and characters to make them more magical and allow for even more learning possibilties for our very own little people. To co-incide with this re-launch, Fisher Price has created a new campaign aptly named Little People ….. Big Discoveries to encourage and celebrate all the special and amazing little things which children experience, explore and observe every day through imaginative play.
As part of this new campaign, Burton and Jenson were sent the new look Fisher Price Little People Fun Sounds Farm and the Little People Racin’ Ramps Garage. Having previously owned the old style sets of each of these playsets, I for one was curious to see what changed had been made to each toy. Luckily, because Burton had been given these toys for his first birthday and we gave them away over a year ago to a friend’s son, he had forgotten that he once owned a similar set of toys and was not aware of playing with these new sets in a comparative way, unlike me of course!
Little People Fun Sounds Farm
This farm set has changed a lot and I can see many differnces and new additons compared to the previous model. Firstly, it has many more sounds and even plays songs (8 in total) which is fun for the boys to explore, listen to and copy! Putting the farm together is very easy and does not require much assembling. I LOVE the fact that the animals and young farmer can be easily removed from the box and don’t require a screw driver and/ or scissors plus at least 10 minutes of your time to free them from the clutches of the box and its packaging! Also, no batteries were required so play could begin as soon as the farm was removed and set up. Yaaaay!
(Please note that we have some other farm characters and vehicles from other toysets which the boys added to the Little People farmset – it is only the characters shown in the second photograph from the top whih are included)
Little People Racin’ Ramps Garage
To be honest this has not really changed very much, since we bought one for Burton 4 years ago. The only change I could find was that the man (still a man, no lady driver!) who drives the blue car is different. Gone is the shirt and bow tie and in its place a well blue shirt! But gone is the mobile phone from his hand and I cant remmber what the previous little driver held in his other arm – paperwork maybe? It did make me smile, that this new little driver is carrying some take away coffee cups (aswell as his sunglasses!). I do remember thinking that the previous man carrying a mobile phone while driving was a little naughty and illegal!
The garage does require some assembling but nothing too arduous thankfully. The lift is a little hard to push up and down, but I do recall it being like this when Burton had one before, but it does loosen up with use so it is nothing to worry about. The only sounds made are those from the breakdown vehicle which makes car sounds when its driver, the mechanic, sit down inside it. I had hoped there would be a few more like an older version which the boy’s Granma has, but no. Maybe too many parents complained about there being too many noises!!
Jenson in particular adores playing with the garage and has spent a lot of time using it since we received it, which makes me think that I should have kept the old set we had, so that he could have played with it when he was younger!! Still, now he has a brand new one to play with as often as he wants to!
To me Fisher Price signifies what young babies and children need toys to give them: stimulation, sensory play, discovery, role playing, sharing skills, exploration, observation skills and entertainment. I grew up playing with Fisher Price playsets and toys and I am more than happy to allow my two boys to do the same. I love how both the Little People Racin’ Ramp Garage and the Little People Fun Sounds Farm encourages so many differnt ways to play and ignites the imaginations so well, and enables children to play by themselves and with others. Watching my two play together, putting on voices and re enacting little scenarios made me smile so much.
Such fun to watch, even more fun to play with.
