Alphablocks DVD Giveaway

Ever since Burton could sit up I have been playing with him using items like his building blocks which have letters of the alphabet printed on them, and as he got older puzzles and books which feature the alphabet. All done to make him familiar with letters; how they look and how they sound. Of course being the age I am now, I cannot remember how I was taught to phonetically learn the alphabet and I know that between me, his Daddy and grandparents we have no doubt been teaching him ways which will get corrected once he starts school in September.
I know for a fact through conversations on twitter with a friend who is herself a teacher that I do get the phonics wrong and she informed me that the best place to hear them being said correctly was watching Alphablocks on the CBeebies channel. We were familiar with this programme before I was told this news, but whereas before I may have watched it while doing something else, I now actually watch it to teach myself the correct phonics so I am able to help both my boys learn theirs too.
Therefore, when I was asked if the boys and I would like to review the new Learn to Read With The Alphablocks Phonics First Steps DVD, I happily accepted because recently we no longer watch CBeebies in the mornings and now we can still learn our phonics when we want to in our own time.
Burton was very excited when he saw the DVD and asked if we could watch it straight away! The DVD comes with a poster which shows all the Alphablocks from A – Z with their correct phonics for each letter too.
The poster was a big hit and we spent quite a while looking at it and trying to say each letter phonetically correctly
The DVD contains 86 minutes worth of programmes and this is Alphablocks Volume 1 Phonics First Steps, which introduces children to the first letters and sounds that they will be taught in school. Therefore, this makes a great introduction for your pre schooler into building up their key phonic skills and also to boost their reading  confidence. All done while having fun and watching these delightful little characters on screen. This will be a great learning resource for both boys and we have already watched it twice!
