Regular readers may recall this photo of Burton and Jenson taken back in the summer (well yes what summer? July then!) when they played with a giant jenga set. I love this photo of them playing together nicely so much, that I recently had it made into a canvas print!
So when I was asked by Garden Games if I would like to review a Mega High Tower In A Bag I replied ‘yes’ because I remembered how much my two had enjoyed playing with the similar game a few months previous.
We haven’t been able to play with the kit until this weekend, because since it arrived we have had nothing but rain and there is no point playing on sodden grass! Anyway, the warm autumn sun gazed down on us kindly today and we went to the OH’s parents (as they have a garden and we dont yet) and set about stacking up the blocks.
You get 58 blocks in total which come in a handy carry bag. Although the weight of the filled bag is heavy and would require an adult to carry it, each individual block is lightweight and both boys (ages 18 months and 3 years) were able to hold them easily.
Once stacked the blocks make a tower thats not too high for children to reach up to – about 2m when made.
Then the fun begins!
We played several games of this and many mutterings of ‘oooooooh’ and ‘nearly’ were exclaimed throughout. As with many children my boys adore playing with building blocks indoors so to be able to play with some outside in the garden was great fun for them.
The Mega High Tower In The Bag is available from Garden Games and costs £51.99.
My OH and I discussed the value of money of this game and although we agreed that a keen DIY person with the correct tools and lengths of wood probably could make a set themselves, it is a hassle and actually wouldn’t work out that much cheaper when you take into account the cost of the wood and the time it would take. Plus buying a bag to cart it all in would add to the cost too. Therefore, we did conclude that this was good value for money.
