For anyone who is familiar with me and my blog, you will have gathered that I love baking and cooking. One of my guilty pleasures is to watch cookery programmes on the TV and buy cookery books. I love flicking through the pages to get inspiration for my next culinary masterpiece (ahem) and admire the beautiful and mouthwatering food photographs.
I dont really use just one cookbook more than another, infact I rarely stick to a recipe ingredient for ingredient as I tend to either never have all of the correct ones anyway or I replace ones that I don’t like for ones that I do. Basically my cook books for inspiration, information and education I guess.
The Nigella Christmas is my bible during the festive season for ideas on stuffings, cookies and cooking my turkey. I guess my cake cook books get the most views because you know me, I Love Cake!!
Let me show you my collection
Trouble is I dont really have any room for anymore – not that I will use that as a factor as I already have my eye on the new Nigella one based on her new TV series 🙂
However, one recipe which will always be special to me and one I will always use for my sweet pastry is one that my nanny gave me a few years ago. Her pastry is the best and although I have adapted it slightly over the years to suit different pie recipes, like orange zest for my mince pies, and I use all butter instead of half and half as she did – it is one that I will pass on to my boys if they decide to want to learn how to cook pastry when they are older.
I recently adapted it for my fruit pie
Whats your favourite recipe/recipe book?

I love handed down, hand-written recipes! That’s so lovely and I like the idea of sweet pastry. I only make one sort of pastry…I may be pinching the Paulin Family Pastry recipe!!

I love the piece of paper your nanny gave you. So special. She has lovely handwriting xx

That’s lovely! I think my favourite one has to be this one http://www.feistytapas.com/2012/08/pasta-with-chorizo-in-tomato-sauce.html, because of the same reason. I still remember the panicky uni-student phone call and her dictating me, it was only about 16 years ago 😉

I have a few of those books and do love Nigella. I only have her Kitchen book but I’m asking Santa for some more of hers and have her new series on series link LOL I’d love to have known the recipe for my Gran’s potato soup. I could eat bowl after bowl of it.

I see we’ve got quite a few books in common. I loved your fruit pie recipe by the way and hope to give it a go some time soon. I tried taking Amy for a walk today to pick some blackberries, but once we walked passed the local school she threw a tantrum galore because she couldn’t play with the kids on the playground. Thanks so much for linking up as well, hope you like the topic I’ll publish on Sunday x

Awww I can’t join in because mine are packed into boxes and after promising I’d pack leaat possible there is still two huge boxes of recipe (mostly cake making) books alone! I inherited my cake making books from my Grannie so they have huge sentimental value – with her notes and even a bookmark left inside. xx
