Did you know that almost 40% of children in the England who start school have tooth decay? I didn’t and I find that statistic rather alarming. Therefore, as parents it is crucial that we get our little ones into an established dental routine as soon as possible. Dental experts recommend that as soon as a baby’s first tooth appears you should encourage a cleaning routine, even just allowing the baby to suck and chew on the toothbrush to become familiar with it is a good start.
I was sent some TePe MiniT toothbrushes to review – well when I say me, I mean for Burton to try of course!
These new TePe Mini toothbrushes have been launched by leading oral health specialist, Molar Ltd in the hopes that these fun and brightly coloured toothbrushes will encourage little ones establish a good dental cleaning routine. These specially formulated toothbrushes are suitable for infants from as young as 6 months up until the age of 3.
TePe Mini toothbrushes are BDHF (British Dental Health Foundation) approved so you know that they will be of a good quality and safe for your children to use.
They have very small and soft tapered heads
which are ideal to access tiny mouths and why they are suitable from when a first tooth is cut. Their extra soft filaments have been specifically designed to be gentle n new teeth and enamel and they handle well for little hands aswell as the bigger, adult ones which need to assist in the early teeth cleaning stages.
Each of these toothbrushes are brightly coloured and carry fun child friendly designs such as trains, teddy bears, princesses and pirates which are bound to catch the eye of children. This being the case it is hoped that it will encourage older infants to keep up their teeth cleaning routine.
MY REVIEW
Unlike the toothbrush he normal uses (Colgate I believe) which is small and chunky, the TePe MiniT is a lot thinner and longer which I did wonder if he would it find harder to use. However, it didn’t stop him from getting stuck in and cleaning his teeth.
Burton is 18 months old now and has cut most of his teeth and although he doesn’t move the toothbrush up and down exactly as he should, as he still tends to suck on the brush more than anything else, he has been ‘cleaning’ his teeth since he was about 9 months so he is used to using one now. The longer handle on the toothbrush did make it easier for me to hold and move it to assist in the cleaning action, I must admit.
Here is Burton using the TePe MiniT
TePe Mini toothbrushes retail for £1.99 each and are available from leading pharmacies.

My little girl would *love* a new toothbrush. She adores cleaning her teeth (or possibly eating the toothpaste, I can’t decide which) so much we have to fight her toothbrush off her every time!! She stands in the corner of the bathroom facing the wall, teeth clamped down and both fists clutching the handle – it’s a real battle of wills to get it back and often ends in a bit of a tantrum (until bath duck comes to save the day).
