Thank you once again to all of you who joined in with Pastry week last week and baked a recipe based on the shows baking categories which were:
Signature – Danish Pastries
Technical – Bakewell Tart
Showstopper – Amuse Bouche
Danish Pastries
I applaud all of you who attempted puff pastry with all its layers and rolling out! I have to say they all looked ruddy lovely and I would have happily eaten any of them for breakfast anyday! In the end I have decided to award Star Baker for this category to Andrea because she made so many shapes and flavours, and I loved reading her step by step guide to making the pastry.
Bakewell Tart
There were so many gorgeous tarts to drool over: some copied Mary Berry’s classic recipe with the raspberry jam and feathered icing, while others swapped the icing for just some almonds or a drizzle of icing. One person attempted a clean eating version, while another made a Bakewell Pudding, and one made a Breaking Bad inspired tart!! Some of you even altered the flavours of the jam or left out the almond flavour all together. In the end , I am going with this Toffee Apple Bakewell Tart just because I love the sound of the homemade toffee and apple jam and think it is such a delicious autumn take on the recipe.
Amuse Bouche
I take my hat off to those of you who attempted to make your own filo pastry – only 3 of you did but well done because personally I think it is very fiddly and scary, and I would prefer to buy ready made. With this in mind, I have chosen to award young Kaycee the Star Baker for this category because how talented she is to make the pastry herself for her Apple & Cinnamon Filo Tarts, at such a young age.
Well done ladies and your badge is ready (Star Bakers from last week I have yours ready too!)
So Botanical is tomorrow nights theme – I am liking forward to seeing what the contestants and you wonderful baking bloggers come up with for that xx
