Since I became a Mummy almost 7 years ago now, I have been privileged to share so many very special and sometimes amazing moments with my children.
From their first smile to their first laugh; their first walk to their first swim; the first time they said a word to the first time they read a book – every single moment has been something to treasure and something the boys and I have shared together.
Of course there are far too many moments to list here, and possibly even remember properly now, which is why this blog of mine helps trigger my memory and assists me in remembering, because I have captured lots of these moments via photos and blog posts which was the reason why I started Mummy Mishaps in the beginning. I am so pleased I did.
When I was asked by Channel Mum and Cadbury Buttons to vlog about my shared moments of joy with my boys, it really got me thinking about what I could discuss. I feel like nowadays my role as a Mummy to Burton and Jenson is more about telling them off constantly, raising my voice and feeling frustrated at how they ignore me or continue to do the same things which results in me telling them off! Whereas when they were younger, I was with them much more because they were not at school, and we spent less time being confined to the routine of school mornings, and more time doing what we wanted when we wanted. Trips to the park, making homemade play dough and making things from it, playing with toys in the garden, seeing them learn to smile, walk, recognise a letter from the alphabet, playing peekaboo or hide and seek and so on. This are moments of joy which come to mind easily, and I have to be honest it was hard thinking of 3 moments of joy because they do not come as easily since the boys have got older.
However, as I got to thinking I realised that of course there are lots of moments of joy that we share, they are just different now. I still get excited when the school holidays are approaching so I can spend time with the boys because we do lots of fun things together. I love reading to the boys at bedtime or first thing in the morning when they join me in bed, and when it is a bit too early to face going downstairs. I like to do some silly Mummy moves to music which makes them laugh (and me look ridiculous!) our make up silly little rhymes about them. I love making them special tea parties or having a little picnic in the garden after school, and we enjoy cuddling up on the sofa just for the hell of it, or to watch a movie while munching some sweets.
It really is the little things that make you appreciate how special being a Mummy is, and it is easy to forget this sometimes when every day becomes a bit mundane and repetitive. Therefore, I was glad to have the opportunity record 3 moments that make me happy on video. Not those big moments that cost me money, or ones that involve going out somewhere, but those little precious shared moments we have here at home.
You can see the 3 moments I chose in this video I made below.
Now I have shared mine , why don’t you share yours?
It is easy to do, simply share them using the hashtag #TasteLikeThisFeels and @channelmum on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook for your chance to WIN one of 5 digital cameras and a box of Cadbury chocolate buttons.
