Happy 5th Birthday Jenson - a letter to you

My darling Jenson,

How can you be 5 already? To think that this time last year as you celebrated being 4, I was thinking about how you were starting school in September, and how I was dreading it. Then I think back to how upset I was when you went to school, I was devastated and yet, here we are with you over half way through your reception year, and now you are 5!

You love school and have excelled at it and your reading and writing is fantastic. Daddy and I could not be prouder of you and all you have achieved so far. I find it amazing that before you started school, you could only just write your name and you certainly could not read many words, and I could not get you to write or read for me. However, you have come on leaps and bounds at school, and can read and write so well and you are always winning certificates and badges of achievement for all your hard work. Your teacher had so many good things to say about you at your parents evening, how you always have your hand up to answer a question and how you are a pleasure to teach because you are so keen to learn and so enthusiastic about it too. Well done you!

You are such a cheeky boy, full of mischief and good humour, and always making us laugh. You love bottom related jokes and comments, and suddenly burping is hilarious!!! I blame school and Burton for that. You crack me up with your comments such as how you wish you had long hair like me, or you were a girl so you could wear pretty dresses! You are definitely in tune with your feminine side at times, bless you.

You have a few new friends at school, but your favourite is still monkey and you take him everywhere with you, apart from school of course. His poor little nose is practically non existent now, but he is still your best cuddly toy friend.

You do seem more grown up now you are a big school boy, but you still love your mummy cuddles and love snuggling up to me on the sofa every time we sit down to watch TV.
