My boys adore playing with LEGO and we have a lot of it now and I do think it is a great toy, BUT I do get fed up with continually finding pieces all over the house!!! It is like a never ending game of me playing hide and seek with it, except I never get to hide because I am always the seeker who finds it and has to return it to one of its many boxes!
Anyway, when I was asked if we would like to have a go at designing a Spring Dream Home made from Lego, I consulted my budding Master Builder (aka Burton) and, of course, he excitedly said yes please. We were sent a box of Lego with which to construct the house from.
I said to Burton that he should draw his design on paper first so he had something to work from. Here is his ‘blue print’
It was half term when the lego arrived, so it was a perfect task for a wet afternoon and he set to work immediately. Now as a result of starting the build straight away from receiving our Lego pack, we did not realise that a green Lego baseplate would arrive a week later, (doh!) to put the house on. All we had at the time was a small grey one, which will explain why our house is smaller than maybe we had envisaged originally!
Still, Burton was very happy with his finished design which took him about 2 hours to complete – but it is small. However, it is eco friendly with its solar panal and lets be honest, size is not everything !
Here is a short video with Burton explaining his design (apparently it has 6 bedrooms! Oh to have the imagination of a 6 year old!)
I do think his home is very similar to his design though, so I think he did well with that. And I love that his garden has a sea saw!
This post and the Lego construction was created in association with Ocean Loans.

What a lucky boy, Lego is the bane of my life, I love it but it really does end up everywhere!
