Making the most of the space you have within your family home, is something I think we all strive to achieve. I am lucky in that I now live in a fairly large house, and it always amazes me that I can fill it so easily with all of our ‘stuff’! At our previous abode, we did not have as much space, and hardly any storage and yet we did not seem to have the same issue with stuff everywhere. But, then again, we only had a small baby and a young toddler back then who did not have as many toys and accessories as they do now, and therefore, their ‘stuff’ did not take over the house as much!
One way to create more living space is to have a loft conversion. At our last house we gave the entire house a complete make over, and made the attic into our bedroom – it was an amazing space and I miss it in a way because it was so light and airy and had a lovely feel to it. We even had colour co-ordinating VELUX blinds to match our understated design and decoration, which really finished off our new living loft space perfectly.
I definitely think there is something special and unique about creating a room up in the very top of a house. It seems almost like it is separate from the rest of the home, and therefore more private and secretive, a sanctuary; a haven; a place to relax and unwind.
I asked some fellow blogger friends ,
“if you could convert and transform your loft space, what room/space would you create there? “
I’d turn my loft into a penthouse suite, with luxury bedroom, en-suite and balcony

We plan to do this soon. It will be a teen space for Chloe. Complete with ensuite, sofa area and bed

I’d definitely create an office/studio space where I could do all my blogging work. I’d have a massive desk, 7 thousand computer screens (think Doctor Evil) and a photography and reading corner.

I’d turn my loft into storage and an awesome office space, with a huge velux window above the desk looking out over a beautiful view. Custom made rest/workbench to work, blog and repair computers on and the other side of the loft would become storage space to hold spare parts, customers repairs and finally get my business off the ground so imwellconfused ltd can begin.

I’d create a self contained flat for Kyd to live in when he’s older. Independence in special needs is very important but can be very expensive, this would be a cheaper option in the long run.

I’d like an area for the kids and their friends where they can relax. I’d much rather they were at home than anywhere else so I’d love a space where they want to spend time in.

We had a loft conversion as our bedroom at our old house. We absolutely loved it. We live in a much bigger house now, but our new bedroom isn’t a patch on the old one!

When I was a young girl living at home with my parents and younger brother, my bedroom was in the loft space of an extension which was built on to our bungalow. This meant that I was the only member of the household who had her own flight of stairs ! I LOVED that room with its walk in wardrobe and sloping walls, and a window with a view that no one else in the house shared with me. I really did feel I had my own little part of the house that was far away from my family.
How would you convert your attic space?

Loved spaces are amazing. My old bedroom at my parents’ house was in the loft room and it was huge. Super hot in summer though. I did have a Velux window though and I loved sleeping underneath it when it rained because I found the sound of the rain so relaxing x

The room in the picture looks almost identical to our old bedroom! I miss it! Loft rooms are ace!
