Garden Golden Hour

IMG_0354

This last week has really felt like Spring has finally sprung. The sun has shone, the weather has been a warmer and coats have even been abandoned on school runs, and trips to the supermarket!!

Saturday was another beautiful day and I wanted us to go out and enjoy the weather as a family, because OH has not been out with us on a weekend since back in December, due to illness over Christmas, and then since the new year he has been rennovating our lounge every weekend. Well, Friday night he completed the lounge, which does look great, so I had high hopes for us getting out of the house Saturday. However, by the time he finished some wiring and some little jobs in the lounge, it was almost tea time. The boys and I had been outside but I was a little grumpy that my plans for going out somewhere had not materialised. I did get several loads of washing cleaned and dried on the line, and lots of cleaning done, aswell as the food shopping, but it was not what I had really wanted to do.

So I made a picnic tea for the boys to eat in the garden during the so-called ‘golden hour’ which they loved, while I drank a cup of tea and we enjoyed feeling the last of the suns rays on our faces.

I invited OH to join us which he did just as we finished our little al fresco time, and we then spent the next hour and a half cutting the grass, sweeping and raking the leaves

Yes stamping on the leaves is a good way of making more room in the bin – well done boys! Grandad taught them this trick!!

Today with the sun shining once again we did make it out to the park – yay!!

  1. It seems a never ending job with D.I.Y stuff and garden renovation here too.We have the Easter hols book marked for tidying and plating in the garden. It’s just strewn with toys left out from the Summer and I didn’t get much done in the way of gardening last year.

  2. I know that feeling well when plans go wrong:-( I have managed this much better when I wake up before everyone else and go for a run. That way, at least I got to go out once for the day and I’m so moody if the rest of the family is resistant. I love that slide in the background there! Aren’t kiddies super handy when it comes to compacting!

  3. I love the look of your Golden Hour. Beautiful lighting as the sun sets makes your picnic tea, scrunching leaves and a little garden time look magical at the end of a chore filled day. Well done on dragging Daddy out on Sunday and having some park time all together. At least the living room is all finished now freeing you up for some summer time outdoors all together. Thank you for popping over and sharing on Country Kids.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
