Christmas 2014

So that was our Christmas
And what have we done?
Another one over
And we had such fun

And so that was Christmas
I hate when it ends
I love all the build up
So sad when it ends

Christmas is over, and yes I am sad BUUUUT we had a lovely time. Sadly for my OH he has suffered with the flu and has spent most of the week in bed, so he has not been able to enjoy it much. However, the boys and I have enjoyed ourselves and here are my favourite photos from this Christmas.

Christmas Eve

It is (the boy’s) cousin Lyla’s birthday on Christmas Eve, and at lunchtime we were invited to go ice skating to celebrate it. Our town does not have a real ice skate rink, but does have a fake one and it is the first time that the boys have ever been ice skating, and my second time! The one and only time I have ever set foot on an ice rink (a real one) was about 26 years ago, so I was a little nervous about trying it again after such a long time! It was fine though, and we all had a wonderful time. It was hilarious watching Burton trying to get his balance and he fell over a lot, but by the end of our 45 minute sesssion, he had just about got to grips with skating. This was no ordinary skating party either, as Elsa (not the best look-a-like I have seen to be honest!), Olaf and Father Christmas made an appearance tooskatingall3IMG_1785Before they went to bed, Burton and Jenson were allowed to open their Christmas Eve box where they received some new pajamas, a festive gingerbread reindeer each, a book to read at bedtime, reindeer food, a glow stick bangle each and a Father Christmas wash mitt each. We went outside at 5.20pm to see Santa and his sleigh fly overhead (the satellite) and to leave out the reindeer food – the boys were so excited to see the sleigh as was I (and I knew it wasn’t!). Once bathed and in their new pj’s, it was time to get their sacks out, leave a snack for FC and Rudolph and say goodbye to Buddy and Jingle the elves (which made Burton cry – ooops!). Then it was off to bed !!

Despite me waking up a lot during the night, and eventually waking up at 6.38am, the boys did not stir until 7.25am which was good, as Burton had woken up at 4am and 6am the morning before and I was dreading him doing the same today! As with every Christmas since the boys have understood about the magic of Father Christmas, seeing their faces light up when they enter the lounge to see that he has been in the night and filled up their sacks, never ceases to make me smile and it is just wonderful to see. I hope they continue to believe for a good few more years yet!!

They had only opened one Father Christmas present each from their sacks, when they stopped and went to the tree to hand out the gifts they wrapped up for us and themselves – too cute!

My Mum, Step Dad, brother and Nanny spent the day with us arriving late morning and staying until 7pm. Christmas dinner was served at 1.30pm and by 3pm we were sat down again ready for the boys to open more presents from their family.xmas2014Jafternoonxmas2014Bafternoonxmas2014BafternoongrandmaWe went for a walk in the dark aswell to see all of the Christmas lights in the village, which was nice after being indoors all day. Burton persuaded Uncle Nick to take a ‘short cut’ back home which resulted in them getting back 15 minutes after we did lol!!!

And so that was Christmas

I love all the build up
So sad when it ends

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas time too xx
