6 Places to Take a Foreign Visitor in the UK

If you have a foreign exchange student, friend or family member visiting from a different country there is no doubt that you will want to give them an experience that they won’t forget and help them to see as much of the UK’s beauty as possible. Many visitors don’t go past the capital that is London, but there are countless destinations outside of our capital that offer culture, beauty, arts and sports. From north to south, we have put together 6 beautiful places in the UK that will have your foreign friend, student or family member wanting to stay in the UK or going home thinking what a wonderful experience they had in our country.

Cambridge
Home to the famous university Cambridge University, Cambridge is situated just 50 miles northwest of London. The River Cam runs through the north of the village of Rantchester and is beautiful especially on warmer days. Your foreign visitor will love to visit the beautiful green areas such as such as Jesus Green, Midsummer Common and Parker’s Piece. If your visitor is a sport lover, Cambridge offers soccer matches, cricket tournaments, rugby competitions and water sports of many varieties.shutterstock_187720898Llandudno

A Llandudno break offers a seaside destination that is full of elegance and splendour. The small town in Wales has kept its Victorian and Edwardian vibe and despite its modern attractions it is full of history. You can walk or take the tram to the summit of the Great Orme where you’ll be rewarded with a splendid view of Llandudno (it gets rather chilly up there, so it’s worth suggesting to them that they bring their winter warmers). On your way up you can stop off to look at how copper was mined three thousand years ago.shutterstock_187368173Cornwall
Cornwall is about as far as southwest England you can get. The remarkable town occupies a peninsula bordered to the north and west by the Celtic sea and the south by the English Channel. Cornwall is perfect for your foreign visitor as it allows them to experience the astounding beaches that are characteristic of Cornwall. The north coast of Cornwall is wilder in nature because it is exposed to the fury of the Atlantic Ocean. Cornwall is full of picturesque fishing villages that have become a popular destination for many tourists. It is full of down to earth people and beautiful views that are memorable.shutterstock_212435905Manchester

One of the most popular cities in the UK, in Manchester your guest can discover rich culture from all over the globe. Manchester contains some beautiful art and science museums that are open to the public. Popular football teams Manchester United and Manchester City both have their grounds located here so you can visit them and get a souvenir. Why not take your visitor on a ride on the Manchester wheel to gain a perspective of the beautiful city and the surrounding areas. Manchester is very popular for shopping, nightlife, music scene, fine resturants and sporting events so it can keep your guest entertained for days.shutterstock_183271304

Hi, it’s really great to see a list of places that doesn’t just focus on London (though I admit to bias as am a Londoner myself 🙂 ). If anyone is taking someone to London I’d strongly recommend spending a day walking up the South Bank.

Get to London Bridge station, cross Tooley Street and start by the town hall, keep your back to Tower Bridge and just walk up till you get to the London Eye, loads of stuff to see and do along the way, Hays Galleria, Clink museum, the Belfast, Globe Theatre, couple of good eateries, skateboard park, section with street entertainers etc etc

Anyhoo, enough of my evangelising. Great blog looking forward to reading more. That picture of Cornwall reminds me of Ballamory for some reason!

    Cheers,

    Andrew
