Since we moved into our house 18 months ago now, we have not been able to do many rennovations yet. This is mainly in part due to lack of money, and also the fact that for almost a year now my OH has been working away each week, and therefore time is limited at the weekend for him to get stuck into some decent DIY jobs. I am of course getting frustrated because I have so many ideas of ways to improve our home and its rooms, but I am not a very neat painter and decorator and therefore if I attempted some home improvements, it would need to be improved again by my OH!
Oh well at least I have enthusiasm lol!
As well as thinking about redecorating the current rooms in the house, I would also love one day to rennovate our loft into another room. It is very spacious up there with plenty of head space for walking around. It would make an amazing den for the boys when they are older and want to hang out with their friends and have sleep overs. When we were at our previous house we gave the entire house a complete make over , and made the attic into our bedroom – it was an amazing space and I miss it in a way because it was so light and airy and had a lovely feel to it. Simply decorated but very modern and clean looking and whenever I look back on photos of it now, I cannot believe we lived there and that my bedroom looked like that, to be honest, because it just looks amazing even now, almost 6 years on (when we completed the work).
Even now looking at these photos it looks like something I would pin on pinterest! Don’t get me wrong it did not look that tidy all of the time (these pics were taken when we were selling it) , but it does look a perfect bedroom dwelling. Also it was so light because of the VELUX windows we had installed allowing us not just lots of natural light, but magnificent views across the roof tops of the streets surrounding us away to the hills and fields behind those.
Having such large windows was lovely because of the natual light and being able to see the stars at night while lying in bed, but in the summer when the sunlight would stream in really early in the morning, it was not so good when you did not want to be up at the same time as the birds! Luckily, we were able to buy some black out VELUX blinds which stopped the light from disturbing our sleep in the mornings. This worked great for the first 9 months that we lived in the house, however, it was wasted after that time, because then I had a baby and lie -ins, whether with or without black out blinds, became a thing of the past!

Great job reclaiming some extra square meters for a beautiful room 🙂
