I cannot believe that our we are off to Butlins at Bognor Regis on Monday . The boys are both VERY excited and are telling their friends and teachers/pre school staff and family that it is only a few more sleeps until we depart. We have taken Burton out of school for the week (Monday is a bank holiday anyway), as his school has very kindly allowed us to do this which means that the resort will hopefully not be too over crowded. We are going at the same time as we did last year when we stayed at the Minehead resort
I am really hoping that the weather will be as nice (or nicer!) and these rumours of wintry showers I have heard off will be gone by next week! Not that it matters what the weather is like when you stay at Butlins becasue there is plenty to see and do in all weathers, but as this is our main holiday this year I would like us to be able to pack our summer holiday clothes!
I am looking forward to seeing how different our stay will be this year going from a self catering holiday at Minehead to experiencing hotel acommodation at Bognor. Last year we stayed in gold accommodation self catering but had the option to go half board.
This worked out really well for us as it gave us the option to eat out but also to prepare meals and snacks in our kitchen. Ths year however, we will be staying in a hotel so its a full dining package which will allow us to eat at any of the restuarants on site (as long as we remember to book each day), and no cooking for me!
I spent a long time trying to decide which hotel to stay at during our break at Bognor, because they each had fors and againsts but in the end I opted for The Shoreline which is the oldest hotel on site. To be honest this was the main downsoide for me because I am wondering if the decor and furniture will be a little dated and well used by now. BUT looking at the Butlins website I am sure that this will not be the case. A big plus factor for me was ensuring that we stayed in a statesroom, as these are the largest rooms in the hotel and offer a wealth of special features
Daily housekeeping
24 hour dedicated reception team
Rooms with patio and balconies available
Bathrobes and slippers for the adults
Telescopes
King size or twin beds in main area
Separate children’s den with bunks and bed guards
Floor to ceiling windows
Temperature control
Tea and coffee making facilities, Mini fridge
Flat screen TV and DVD player in the main area and the children’s den
Having stayed in the Ocean Hotel back in 2011, I was familair with the new boutique style rooms there and decided that I would like us to stay in a hotel new to us. The Shoreline seemed more spacious too and the fact it had bunk beds was appealing because Burton and Jenson had requested to stay in them after seeing tbe photos on line!
Many discussions have been had already about who will sleep on the top and who will sleep on the bottom bunk!
Mostly though, I just want us all to enjoy a family holiday together as with the OH working away all week every week, we do not have a lot of time all four of us. I am hoping to see lots more smiles again as that is what I remember the most about our stay last year – the fun and happy memories we shared.

Will be keeping my fingers crossed the weather holds for you Jenny. We were in Bognor last weekend and whilst the forecast was heavy rain it did brighten up. We planned our activities for indoors and it all changed when the sun came! Have a brilliant time, I’m sure you will. Download the Butlins app too if you haven’t already, it was so useful!
