I don’t know about you but I always find myself thinking that there are not enough hours in the day to get all my jobs done. Being a full time SAHM you would think that I would have plenty of time to juggle all my jobs, but I really struggle to keep on top of them. I actually thought that once Burton started school last September, that this would free me up to catch up on my housework because I would only have one child to look after during the day. However, I have found that since we have adopted our new school day routine the hours in the day pass by quicker than before and because Jenson and I attend a few playgroups now each week, by the time we get home and have some lunch and I prep tea and have a quick tidy up it is time to fetch Burton and that is another day gone! Jenson of course does not have a playmate to occupy him, so even on days when we are home all day he wants me to play with him so my cleaning time is limited. And quite honestly if it is a nice day weather wise, I actually think to myself ‘sod the housework’ because I would rather we were outdoors getting some fresh air and making the most of the dry weather.
I really do not know how a Mum who works finds the time when I am home all day and I struggle!
I often find myself wishing I could have some (free!) way of getting my chores done. Not being wealthy I cannot afford a domestic cleaning person (not sure if “cleaning lady” is pc these days!) to tidy and clean for me. Even if I could they would not be able to sort out all the bags of ‘stuff’ I have in various cupbaords and rooms, awaiting the day I find the time to go through them and decide what to keep and what not! My whole house needs a thorough declutter and clean. Please do not get me wrong it does not look like one of those houses you see on those ‘hoarder’ TV shows, and I do go though and clean it once a week and clean the kitchen and bathrooms regularly and the floors can be seen! It is just that I wish I had the time to go through and clean all the house, tidy up all thre rooms and then I feel that I woudl be able to keep on top of it daily by cleaning certain rooms on a daily rota type basis.
If I were the inventing type, and immediately I think of Wallace from Wallace and Gromit, I could invent some amazing time saving device or housework fairy maybe that could assist me with my housework ‘project’. Imagine being able to wave a magic wand and it could all be done for you – wouldn’t that be amazing? I could be rich as I am sure unless you really really enjoy cleaning, who would not want to own a wand that could make your house clean and tidy in a flash? I think I would make the ‘wand’ into a downloadable app for your smart phone actually as magic wands are a bit old hat now aren’t they? An app where you could key in what tasks you want doing and then hey presto it is done without you having to do more than lift a finger to your smart phone screen! Now that could really work!!
Talking of great time saving apps for your phone, imagine being able to control your central heating at the touch of the screen on your smart phone? The Hive app is a clever way of being able to control your heating and hot water wherever you are and whenever you are away from your home. How cool (or warm!) is that?
Perfect for when you have been away on holiday and switched the central heating sytem down or off even, and then on the dsay of your return home you can have it to come back on to make the house warm upon your arrival through your front door. No more wasted energy and hopefully as a result money is saved and your energy bills will cost less too. What a great idea!
Now, how do I go about making a magic wand app………!
