Like many families up and down the country, we have to make a trip to the swimming pool very Saturday so that Burton can have his swimming lessons and so that OH can take Jenson swimming. Both boys are extremely confident in the water and Jenson managed to swim without his armbands for the first time last weekend which is amazing! He is definitely following in his big brothers footsteps, and it will soon be time to enroll him in some swimming lessons too.
I cannot remember how old I was when I first had formal swimming lessons but I was much older probably already at primary school. I never enjoyed being taught in a baby pool because I was so tall for my age and could stand up quite easily and wanted to be in deeper water. And I hated having to wear swiming caps – they were so hard to get on and havig to tuck all my hair in underneath! I think using talcom powder inside to make the cap open up easily was something I recall doing…..or being advised to do maybe? It is a bit vague as it was quite a few years ago now *ahem*. Burton has not been told he has to wear one yet, but I would imagine it may become compulsory if he went swimming with his school as I think this was when I had to wear one myself. Still at least there are some fun swimming caps for children to choose from and to help make them visible to those in charge of them.
I am so pleased that they love swimming so much and their efforts make me very proud because it is amazing what they can do already being so young. Swimming was always my favourite activity as a child and actually probably the only one I have ever enjoyed and been any good at. I have fond memories of summer holidays spent with my friends at our local outdoor pool and buying snacks from the tuck shop before heading home for our tea. We would spend a lot of time there all of us enjoying the warm sunshine and the messing about in the pool.
It always fascinates me how many designs and colours children’s swimwear comes in nowadays. I am a bit boring when it comes to my choice of swiming costume tending to stick with boring black, because I hope it covers up all my wobby bits and does not make me stand out as much as if I were to wear a more vibrant colour! Kids of course suit bright colours and as soon as the weather gets warmer and the holiday season approaches, all the shops feature a great range of colourful childrens swimwear for summer. I will be buying my boys some new swimming shorts once summer begins for the pool and the beach.

those hats look great, Sophie has a fish hat with a fin on top and chases daddy round the pool pretending to be a shark, she has 4 swimming costumes as she also has swimming lessons i bet your boys have the most fun in the pool and that you really don’t have any wobbly bits at all
